What's a "basic bitch"?

Someone who is unflinchingly upholding of the status quo and stereotypes of their gender without even realizing it. She engages in typical, unoriginal behaviors, modes of dress, speech, and likes. She is tragically/laughably unaware of her utter lack of specialness and intrigue.

Girls are being made fun of left and right for not being "special" enough, for enjoying things that are supposedly "lame" and "girly" and "too mainstream". If a girl wears plain clothes and likes Starbucks, she's a basic bitch. If she enjoys rom-coms and taking baths with Lush bathbombs, she's a basic bitch. If she posts inspirational quotes and pictures of cats and coffee on her instagram, she's a basic bitch and for whatever reason, deserves to be mocked for it. Everyone wants to rub it in her face how "laughably not special" and "unoriginal" she is.

Why do we do this?

Why do we put women down for not being "special" enough? Why is it such a bad thing to like mainstream stuff? If a guy says he likes drinking beer and watching football, nobody bats an eye. Nobody croaks "wow, you're such a basic dick, you're so tragically unoriginal for liking beer and football". But if a girl says that she's going to spend the evening sipping some Starbucks while watching Sex in the city, everyone else gets this burning desire to drag her to hell and back for it, while chanting how unoriginal she is and that she's behaving like a basic bitch.

This feeds the whole "I'm not like other girls" mentality. Girls become desperate to separate themselves from "other girls", as to not be called a basic bitch, or just in general in order to not be lynched for the things they like and enjoy doing. It creates even more hostility, and some girls even go as far as specifically targeting girls of other races in order to separate themselves even more from the basic bitch stereotype.

And so on. It not only stereotypes girls as a whole and mocks them for liking similar things, it also stereotypes girls of different races (specifically) to create an even greater distance between them and the girl(s) they're targeting. Girls are not only pitting other girls against each other, but they're also perpetuating stereotypes and upholding this idea that every girl should somehow be flawlessly unique and not enjoy anything that other girls also enjoy. Because otherwise she's just a pathetic basic bitch who's desperately swimming in the mainstream and doesn't deserve to be treated with respect. She only deserves disrespect and to be mocked, because she happens to like a popular series and enjoy drinking popular beverages and wearing clothes a lot of other people wear.

Liking mainstream things doesn't make you a bad person

Constantly being original shouldn't be anyone's goal in life. Because 1. that's impossible and 2. that's mind-numbingly exhausting. Women shouldn't be bullied and mocked for liking the same things. Women shouldn't feel the need to proclaim how different they are from other women, in order to get validation, attention and cheers from men. Women shouldn't stereotype each other and fight each other for liking the same things. I wish people would quit asking "who wore it better", quit saying "I'm not like all the other girls", quit mocking girls for what they like doing, or drinking, or wearing, or saying, or taking pictures of.

Being a girl and enjoying certain things isn't lame. It's not something you should be laughed at for. Liking beer and watching football doesn't make someone superior over someone else who likes pumpkin spice latte and The notebook. It's not sad. It's not pathetic. It's not a joke. It doesn't make you a bitch or a pathetic excuse for a girl who's completely unoriginal and deserves to be laughed at.

Like whatever the fuck you want to like, and let others like whatever the fuck they like. Nobody deserves to be laughed at for liking something completely normal and mainstream.

Of course it's ok. Bashing someone for liking "girly" things is as damaging as using feminine terms or conditions as pejoratives that mean weak, stupid, silly or irresponsible. It's just another way to use the idea of being feminine to mean something not worthy of respect.

If you want to be a feminist, you support a female OR male wanting to embrace or be ANY and all of those things. A lot of that "definiton" (I freaking hate using Urban Dict as a source) applies to the average human being. Average is not an insult. It means the norm, as in normal, common, typical, expected. That is not bad.

People worry about being special and stop trying to be the best version of them they can be. Just focus on the things you have to do in your day... work, school, relationships. Be as good at those as you can be. I don't mean A+, top performer, just do a solid job, be reliable, be better than you were the day before. Don't worry what everyone else is doing, just be in competition with yourself. Let the rest of this drivel slide away into the white noise of the surf.

A few of the people I follow on Twitter were having a conversation about their ex-wives. One guy said that his mistake was marrying a slut. One colleague told me about his mistake of trying to turn a ho into housewife. Another guy said his mistake was marrying a pre-party slut. A pre-party slut is a girl who might have a semblance of virtue when you marry her, but it is only by circumstance. Maybe her parents were strict or she otherwise didn’t have the opportunity. In reality, she may feel that she is missing out by not riding the cock carousel.
A fellow co-worker of mine went through this type of harrowing scenario. While he was in his mid-twenties, he met a girl who had just graduated high school. She came from a devout Christian family so on the surface she had good values. But after a couple of years of marriage she started cheating on him with not just one, but several random men.
I’ve also seen this “missing out” effect play out in the life of one my wife’s friends, this woman started to look outside her marriage for male affection, and is now in the process of transforming herself. She has become an attention whore on social media where she posts selfies of herself at the pool and advertises that she goes to concerts and bars without her husband. She dresses inappropriately for her age and body composition and she seems to be trying to erase all association with her husband and children.
This is all done to recapture the fun that she thinks she is missing out on. Modern women feel this way because they’ve been indoctrinated into believing that promiscuity is empowering. This flows from egalitarian doctrine: if some men sleep around, women too must be able to sleep around to be equal. Of course the feminist purveyors of this false doctrine don’t care if their false narrative makes it impossible for these women to ever become fit wives and mothers. That is what the feminists intended all along—to destroy marriage by making women incapable of staying married.

I brush off being called a "basic bitch" because of my love of yoga pants and pumpkin spice flavored stuff because I don't give a f^^ck about most people's opinions. I know the only thing basic is the brain of the person who is calling me that. At some point after your junior year of high school you should stop being different for the fact that you want to prove to others you are different... its begging for approval and a good way to get used by alpha people who will use that need for approval against you. Like girls who want to prove they are different by kissing other girls at parties when they are not bisexual. Not only do they come off as desperate they also may end up hurting the other girl if she was misled which may not make them a basic bitch, but makes them a cruel bitch. Nothing about where I buy my coffee, what clothes I wear or what size my dog is reveals my character. There are many subtypes of basicness, such as the basic ratchet, the basic sorority bitch, the basic groupie bitch, the basic I'm-so-Carrie-from-Sex-and-the-City bitch, etc, but ultimately, they all share the common thread of being expendable and unnoteworthy and, in some cases, having absolutely no redeeming qualities.

I suppose on some level I get what you are saying and I agree it's not right to judge people for who they are or what they like. Well right, but I don't think that's necessarily the way to look at it... I like using music as an analogy, being a musician and having been involved in more "underground scenes."

Yes, I may go to a show that is much smaller in scale than a Drake concert, but these relatively few people are all heavily drawn to the same lesser-known thing... it's a more intimate setting, where people are all into the music on a deeply personal level. It's a feeling of connectedness. Some of the smallest shows have been the absolute best shows I've been to, because of this reason.

Like with any other thing in life... I think most people are looking for others that share those similar passions where they can relate and feel connected to one another.
