I've been a registered Democrat voter since I was 19.......but have never voted before. Why? It's not religious. It's about principle. Most politicians are not decent people to me. People try to tell me my vote counts, and that as a black person voting should matter to me like crazy since we were hindered from it for a long time, but it doesn't matter, or else we wouldn't have the electoral college to decide. This year would've been the first time I ever vote if Bernie had've won the election, so now I have another person in mind........and it's neither Hillary or Trump.
In the beginning I thought, 'well, I don't like Hillary, but she is the lesser of the two evils here, so just to keep Trump out maybe I will go vote.' Not now. I've decided I'm not gonna take that leap. I sure as hell don't believe in Trump, but I really don't believe in Hillary either.
Yes, this Take is somewhat Amerocentric, and I do know that many Gaggers are foreigners, so pardon me for only focusing on my country here.
Scum in both the Democratic Party and Republican Party...
There's really little need for me to body slam Trump since he's already acing that himself pretty well, so all I'm doing these days is just waiting for him and his camp to completely implode. However, even if that happens, Hillary is still strong enough to go on even if there are a lot of Democrats who don't like her and won't vote for her. Her success isn't likely to change before we reach November.
With Republicans, I'd like to think maybe having Trump be their Big Cheese head-hunter is a wake up call for them. Republicans in the U.S. have had a pretty terrible record and history of coldness for quite some time now, so could it be a bad omen for the party to have Trump? A cruel payback? No doubt, Trump is humiliating conservatives and driving the party into disarray and considering choosing someone else. Perhaps this will lead them to start making some changes about their image.
Still though, the bigger scandal is the fact that Hillary has made it this far because of corrupt ass-kissing in the Democratic Party. She's been allowed to get away with the email scandal - with both Obama and Loretta Lynch supporting her - where any other person in Obama's cabinet would've been swiftly dealt with for the same indecency. Many corporations also have aided Hillary financially, the same people she's lied about being against. CNN's owner Ted Turner even endorsed her early last year, so that would explain the way the network has been so heavily in the tank for her. Not to mention those other embarrassing emails WikiLeaks publicized showing how the DNC had already set things up for Hillary and was against Bernie is a pretty ugly stain. With all that, I do care if Hillary wins or not.
Also there is the silent rumor that Bill and Hillary already set this whole thing up for her to win by recruiting Trump to run last year. Apparently Bill had a phone call with Trump a month before he decided to run, probably explaining the whole plan to him. It's there on Google if you wanna look it up, but you won't hear it in the media. And Hillary's lukewarm denial of having friendly connections with Trump is not at all convincing. Bill and Trump grew to like each other in the last some years, even golfing together, and Chelsea and Ivanka are friends - in fact if you look at Trump's speech where he claimed victory for winning the nomination, you'll notice a peculiar look on Ivanka's face standing behind him when he slams Hillary, as if it's awkward for her to listen and stand by her dad doing that to her girlfriend's mom. I couldn't find it, but I did find one where she seems like she has to swallow the pain and act like nothing when he slams Hillary on the night of the Indiana primary.
So why would the Clintons recruit Trump? Because they would've already done the math: a foul businessman with a history of scams and mouthing off shamelessly - but no political history or experience - would be dwarfed in comparison to Hillary with a pretty long political record, making it easy for people to vote for her. Any other Republican candidate would likely challenge Hillary to some degree, and both the Clintons and the Republican party knew it.
Thinking differently...
That's why I'm gonna vote for Jill Stein in November. Just sounded like an ad or endorsement, I know, lol. But I really am excited about her. I thought some people here were making a joke about a person named Jill Stein when I first saw it going around, but then I started hearing about Libertarian Gary Johnson rising in the polls, and also Green Party's Jill Stein. So I did some reading about her and I really do agree with a lot of her values. She does excite me, and that would be a woman I could really be behind as our first woman president.
The problem for me with Gary Johnson is that he is a former businessman, which isn't a good sign, and the Libertarians have liberal views about people's rights, but conservative ones similar to Republicans about how the government should run and use money. So that's why he doesn't sit well with me. But Jill Stein was a physician, which is pretty new. She's health conscious, believes in making things right with blacks, feels that Hillary is not a good figure as a woman or a mother, cares about kids, safety, and doing the right thing in a lot of areas. That's a person with a pretty clean record there. She may not be 100% perfect but no one is. So I think she's the best person to lead this country right now since Bernie couldn't be the one.
Looking at our own principles...
Group-think is the way the world works though. Even in politics. The majority parties have most people's attention, and the U.S. government already sets things up for either Democrats or Republicans to win. We're taught to disregard the other parties and see them as fighting an uphill battle like Johnson and Stein.
But at some point we have to ask ourselves: what about principles? When will we decide to stand for the right thing even if it is unpopular? Why should I vote for the candidates of major parties just because they're the ones in the news and have all the attention? Maybe it's just better to demonstrate standing by the right people even if they're not popular or may not win simply because they're better in quality and values. And if you don't want to vote at all - like I haven't - that's fine too, but if you are, it wouldn't hurt to take a step back and really think about things.
So what if the other two candidates aren't getting enormous media buzz and commercials. Maybe you should look at them anyway. Maybe these are the people who've been deserving our attention all along, but with the media dictating our train of thought and influencing us to focus on the heavy weight champions instead, we can't look past our group-think mentality.
This year is very different for Americans. A lot of us are not satisfied with either Trump or Hillary, within our own camps. That's saying something about our society right now. So a lot of us are feeling like we're not going to vote, while some others of us have been thinking about Gary Johnson and Jill Stein.
