Diet.
People eat processed foods, processed meat, fried foods, dairy and so many things that are toxic and unatural for our body and then proceed to give all their money to doctors to heal the problems they created in the first place. Ain't that just insane? Heart disease, digestion problems you name it. It gives their kids allergies, acne, skin conditions and so many sings of the human body screaming that is taking something unnatural in it, although they persist with religious fanaticism to keep in their diet the things that the industry convinced them are vital for their health. Even if that is your rural "quality meat and dairy". and then waste half their salary in creams, and pills and meds that merely supress symptoms and dont adress the roots of the problems. symptoms they face due to their own choices.
Animals have their instincts, we so glorified our supposed logic that we stopped listening to our body, and began consuming things that appeal to our tastebuds and give us a foul perception of good taste but in reality are heavy on our body. All to satiate our gluttony without thinking ahead.
Its also a fact that in nature foods are not wrapped in plastic packages which you have to discard afterwards and which will never decay. If a future, more advanced civilisation makes a summary of what our own civilization achieved, it would be "they produced garbage. endless tons of garbage".

as George Carlin said in a joke of his, "maybe earth created us just to make plastic bags for her". which is of course a very cynical statement that indirectly judges us. But to be frank everything else he said on the matter was garbage. like that enviromental consciousness doesn't matter and is a narcissistic attempt to alter nature. what we CURRENTLY do is a narcissistic and mindless attempt to alter nature without thinking the consequences. and that what we do is inevitable. thats not true at all. what we do is a choice.
we are very technologically advanced but very stupid at the same time. our civilisation is extremely disconnected from nature and creates more harm than good. it is out of sync and out of balance with the environment and we are totally unaware of the domino effects that take place with our technological interventions.
But what do you expect from a species that thought of the following abomination: We took the milk of another mammal that is not for our consumption, processed it, created a cheese from it, then went on and took the leftovers from that and created the worst kind of yellow slime cheese he possibly could think of out of it. and then placed it on a piece of dough that almost sticks to the walls of your intenstines, placed on slices of dead carcasses, and threw it in an oven to heat it, and bring forth all the more spicy carcinogens from that process. and yes, that was the description of pizza.
Drinking/Smoking
This insanity is on a league of its own. We have glorified a culture where people go to a club, home party, whatever to rot their livers with a toxic substance, that inhibits their thinking clarity, and kills their very living cells. a thing that their baby selves would throw to the face of those who would dare to offer it to them. And on top of it pay for it, to disturb your normal night sleep cycles to frantically move like you have a seizure in a place where the lights can give you actual seizure.
What's even greater we took the most toxic plant from the ground, wrapped it inside a whitened chemical paper and decided to suck it daily while paying a bunch of their precious money to kill their own body and give cancer to their throats and lungs. and not only that, its a sign you are "a cool person", and if you want to be in the cool company, you have to do alcohol and smoking if not even drugs.
So if many people are doing something mental does that automatically make it normal?
Technology.
We dont only not care about the earth, we dont care about our health either. We daily live and swim in an ocean of artificial radiation from antennas, wifi, mobile phones etc. We create Xray scans to scan our bodies to diagnose stuff we shouldn't worry about, and radiate ourselves. We surround our homes with toxic chemicals that exist everywhere in chemical soaps, cleaners, washing dust, beauty products everywhere. dangerous, polluting, carcinogens that the industry happily provides in abundance and usually uses as brighteners, colour agents, odour agents, cleaning agents, foaming agenst etc. We create chemotherapies to kill the cancers we create with our cancerous liefstyles and mindsets and environments. and kill our bodies instead.
Farming
Industrialised farming not only polluted the earth and our underground water deposits with all those toxic herbicides and pesticides, it depletes yearly our earth from fertile soil at extremely alarming rates. Instead of doing it like earth meant it to be done. (see natural farming, fukuoka's method etc). We are about to create global wastelands and hostile deserts unless we decide to take action today. Natural farming, ecosystem simulation filled with free roaming animals and insencts, plant varieties, covercrops, use of zeolite clinoptilolite and organic pest control, you name it. Animal breeding is another sad chapter. Imagine the stress hormones in the bodies of these unnaturally cramped poor beings.
Spirituality
I'll leave that for another mytake. where to begin here. Our whole culture as seen till now is based on sensory stimuli created to numb our existential void. and our technology an indiscreet, imbalanced and insatiable childish narcissistic quest for self induced divinity. where to begin about our spirituality? our lack of empathy for our fellow human? our lack of consciousness and care for the world that was so kind and patient as to host us? Our obsession with material belongings and our pathological show off with expensive brands? the ease with which we use people to boost our narcissism? the ease with which we slaughter our own unborn infants because we live careless hedonistic lives? where to begin really.
So what do you say? Don't we live in a paranoid world? And what are YOU doing to change that? Because many say nah, i'm just one person, i can do nothing. In my opinion one person holds all the importance in the world. its not insignificant at all.

Everything you're doing is based on the scientific method, yet you deny the scientific method in this one instance claiming that every historical source is "deluded". This comes from many sources and many different fields of science all agreeing that the Jesus myth was taken from earlier religions. There's more than one religion that predates the Jesus myth and they are supported by multiple scientific methods.

I'm not a gnostic. I've read the scriptures and they've been contradicted by science. The "prophecies" are all vague and follow the same style of Nostradamus as well as other religious prophets. You know what other book fulfills its own prophecies? Lord of the Rings. The Lord of the Rings has geographical locations and fulfills prophecies. But the Lord of the Rings is more interesting than your bible.

this thread is not an apologetics for religion though man. its about the self defeating attitudes of humans and our crimes against earth and our children. are there good arguments for religion? definitely. if all people lived by the standards of Christ eart would be paradise. if everyone could put his brother's interest before his, if everyone was loving and charitable, if everyone was of humble spirit and not superfluous, if everyone loved his wife like Christ loved the church etc. then earth would be heaven. there would be no criminals, no hatred, no violence, no tax evading, no cunning. and not only that humans would take it to the next level as to practice self induced poverty, love of the people that normally noone can stand, wouldn't throw their old parents in institutions, wouldn't be reluctant to give birth to children because he/she would believe in God's mercy. people would not put profit above earth's health. wouldbt produce indiscreet and short sighted technology etc.
