Its the end of a long day...All you want to do is go to your dormroom and sleep. However, before you can get there you see your girlfriend Sally. She walks up to you, gives you a kiss, but has a frown on her face. You ask why? She says... "I have to finish this Essay that is due tomorrow. Can you look over it?"
Being a good boyfriend I say "Yes"
So I look over it, fix some horrible grammar mistakes, and hand the paper back to her. She then scans over the document, makes a couple more edits and then asks if I want to do something.
1.) I am really tired
2.) "YOU DIDN'T SAY THANK YOU"
Now I know this seems commonplace, but I can't tell you how often it happens. You do a favor for someone and they don't say thank you.
I mean it is a simple two words!
Now the normal answer for this question would be that it is polite... While that is correct. I want to look at a different factor. Not saying thank you immediatly...immediatly makes someone not want to do something/cooperate.
I don't want to hang with you Sally as much anymore. It feels like you just disrespected me. In terms of a relationship this can be very damaging over time.
So one way to tell if a potential girl/boyfirend is selfish. Do a favor for them and see if they respond. Make sure that they are just as happy that you are taking time to do something for them and not just taking advantage of them.
I am telling you THIS WILL HELP KEEP RELATIONSHIPS STRONG!
Favors show connection, they show bonding, they show commitment...But if there isn't a Thank You then it all goes to waste.
So I want to say one thing: Help each other out, Say Thank You, and your relationships will be strong.
