I'm getting mixed messages from you. You're saying you like yourself, but also that you lack self confidence. Doesn't self confidence come from truly liking yourself? You are not going to change what the popular ideal is. The cultural ideal DOES change, gradually, to a degree, but it's really just a fashion, like women wearing bustles, then pants, then bell bottoms, then peplums. You can try to change your body to fit what's popular, but you may never win this battle. There's a trend now, obviously, of desiring the girl who's fairly thin but has a big round ass... for the most part, this is a build you're born into. I'm the same height as you, and I have very hourglass proportions, whether I weigh 110 or 160, and I have weighed both. There's no amount of eating or squatting that's going to give me a kardashian build, and it would also be ridiculous to let that get me down. I try to make me the best me I can be. In my eyes. And that's where self confidence comes from, from comparing yourself to yourself only. Your weight is debatable. It strikes me as a little heavy, but that's me. Weight alone tells me little about your body composition or lifestyle, so it's not fair to immediately jump to health risks and state you're going to die and that you should lose weight. My vote will always be to do what creates a happy and healthy you. Self confidence follows. As for skinny, well, I look like shit skinny. Fo real. According to BMI and weight tables, I was spot on though, and it took me a while to see that my body has a weight that it wants to be, a weight that's fairly easy to maintain and looks healthy and fit. That happens to be about 135, which is a 'big' number by a lot of people's standards. Don't. Care. I know what works for me.

First of all being skinny doesn't make anyone happy and beautiful. That skinny trend is bullshit let me tell you lol
Skinny girls are skinny because their built is skinny. ( I am talking natural skinny)
BUT if you want to be really healthy, I think you need to lose weight. Not because of that stupid fashion, for health reasons you can lose weight. Because you're still young, you can prevent yourself from any health problems. At this moment, maybe you don't have, but you have potential to have.
You can still have curves, just be average BMI. If you have natural curves, that will stay with you.
Everyone wears there weight differently, so it is hard to tell without a photo if you are an attractive weight or not. I like chubby girls, and curvy girls, but 172 for your height is on the verge of obesity (according to BMI charts) so I really don't know. If you are happy with yourself I'm sure you'll find someone out there for you someday, my only real advice is try not to be too picky physically if you aren't perfect yourself, that is what I'm trying to do now, lower my standards.
i think you should consider losing weight simply because from a health stand point it would be better for you... I am very happy to hear that you feel good about yourself though

Skinny isn't the only way to be happy.
But, you're definitely pretty overweight. If you get down to 130 ish you'll still be curvy, but at a healthy weightI feel that it is a matter of self perception. It you are healthy, and you are happy then change for know one. If you are not healthy then yes you must change. You are second guessing your self right now. And you shouldn't. Rock what you got... Only if it's healthy, if you're shoveling garbage into your body you need to change it.

If no, then you shouldn't.Well I'm 5'9'' and I weigh 155 pounds so your ratio doesn't seem healthy at all. You should start eating healthier and exercising, if not for the boys then for yourself. And you don't have to be skinny to be attractive, but overweight is not good in any sense.
You don't have to be skinny to be happy, if you aren't happy now that won't make you happy. I'm only 5'5 and about the same weight and I have a great boyfriend so i'm sure you'll find the right guy eventually. :) If you want to lose weight you can, but if you like your body I don't think you should :)
Without a photo, it's impossible to say. I'm guessing down 10-15 would preserve your curves but enhance the overall effect plus if you exercise like mad correctly, you'll be all toned.
