Then try not needing others validations. If you know your equally just as pretty and such then why sweat it? You kind of answer your own question. And mine of us could really tell you why they do it. It could be simply that your friend is prettier/well dressed, or she has a certain aesthetic that is appealing to others.

From what I've seen of your replies, the answer seems to be that you're rather rude. She's probably just a nicer person than you but you're too jealous to see it. The way you're talking about her, she'd honestly be better off without you.
I know the feeling, does she do anything to make others feel comfortable her that you don't? Do you both act the same way?
Most likely they consider her more attractive, maybe the way she dresses catches more attention, not like she dresses slutty, but she dresses better than you, or maybe her non-verbal behavior is more open, so people notice her more than you (this is the most likely).
It's a common pick-up technique for guys when approaching a group of women that you first compliment the woman that you're after's friend. That way they find you to be a nice guy, and not just a prick that will ignore your friends for the rest of your life.

Because they find what she's wearing and her look to be pretty. Don't be insecure. I had a friend who vocally wondered that allowed.
