Is my (fwb) friend with benefits too clingy?

Anonymous
We're really communicative and affectionate, but if I dont show my friend with benefits constant attention and affection at times, I'm accused of "pushing away" or "being too distant." Same if I dont feel like holding hands or something while out doing things. (Though sometimes we are holding hands in public.) There are times I dont really understand the affection. Like if we are watching a movie and I'm clearly into it, or I'm doing something and clearly into it, friends with benefits starts touching me. I dont know how to respond to that. Obviously, I'm occupied just for this moment, and it seems like they aren't focusing on the entertainment to the same extent. Talking about people I'm interested in clearly doesn't interest my friends with benefits and sometimes there's an obvious resistance to hearing it (I think it may actually hurt, even though I ask about my fwb's love interests.) There are times when I'll get texts about how friends with benefits misses me, wants to kiss me, etc. Sometimes its all good, I miss you too. Other times, I almost feel like I shouldn't encourage it. we dont have any intentions of starting a relationship. We go in and out of friends with benefits status because of distance actually. The first time we started getting involved, a comment was made suggesting I would get annoyed with friends with benefits if we were actually in a relationship. Sometimes I can't help but think friends with benefits gets some kind of validation from our relationship. I guess we all get some degree of validation from relationships, but I don't know. What do you think about this?

should read "friend with benefits" or friends with benefits . The site corrects it automatically, so it sounds weird. Sorry about that, guys.
