Today ,I was eating sour jujubes on the bus and then I thought about offering some to the person sitting beside.

I didn't want the dude to think I was a weirdo so I didn't bother :(

It was a common occurrence at my high school that we'd be alerted to some predator or other lurking about outside.. it was usually perfume samples -- never smell perfume samples, that is so blatant. Like I've gotten in stranger's cars; I've taken food from strangers (I've mentioned being homeless on here before, but why smell perfume samples--no purpose, and just so obvious what he's trying to do. But we're all young girls at my school, aren't we? So.. oh yeah I went to an all-girls' school --and perhaps that is why we were more targetted than other schools (it seems?)

Say "no thanks", get up and move away. Closer to the driver. Most of my friends are disabled so we tend to be up front on the bus anyway. And we're all in our early twenties and most of us have either anxiety, PTSD or BPD, so we're like all hypervigilant as fuck. Nothing's getting past us, lmao

I'd only offer it if they mention something about my food. If they don't, I'd just think "they can buy it themselves if they want it".

I once offered my babysitting kid's friend gum, and she said "I'm not allowed to take candy from strangers" lol I swear I blushed a bit right then. I didn't even think of that possibility. After all, I give gum and all sorts of snacks to my babysitting kid and I've been picking her up from school for almost a year, and her friend knows me and even approaches me sometimes to talk =D So I'm not a complete stranger to her. And I never have an intention of giving drugged food to kids or whatever. But I think it was a good move on her part to be careful, even if you "know" the "stranger".

Loose candy like jubes, no. If something was in a plastic wrap like a fun-size chocolate bar, then maybe. But I dislike the feeling that taking something from someone includes feeling the obligation to talk or give up my name or something. So if it's from someone that I'm not getting a very good vibe from or I'm not interested in being social, I'll turn everything down. If I'm in a good mood and it seems I will like the person offering, then I might, but again, not knowing if the food is any good, I may pass on the food but still talk.

I do that with gum. If I'm on public transit and I pull out my pack of gun, I offer it to whomever meet my gum's range & my eye sight. Most people say sure.

This'll probably sound pathetically white, but when I go round to my friend's houses and they're like, not English or Scottish I'm like, I wonder what their customs around food are, and accepting food & like, their hospitality and stuff, and if I'm being accidentally rude. My bffl is Iranian and said I'm overthinking it. My ex (Irish) told me it's rude to accept food the first two times, but the third time it's rude to refuse, but he had a habit of pulling my leg for no discernible reason.

@Alexzktra - you're curious nothing wrong with that :). In my culture, my household tbh I've always been raised with the views that you shouldn't eat at other people's houses its considered rude. Yes they offer you food but its out of courtesy. If you do eat people think you're rude and haven't eaten anything from home. If that makes sense? So whenever I'm out even at my uncles and auntie's places I always refuse food there too.
