Some of the bigger villages have VPSO (Village protection and safety officers), they can't carry firearms on duty.
For big crimes people have to call in the Alaska State Troopers.
And EVERYBODY knows when the troopers are coming.

I'm going to let you know right now that 85-90% of the police officer's job is report writing. I am also going to let you know that communication and empathy are what are used on 95% of the calls police officers respond to. I am also going to let you know that you do not need to be very strong to pull a trigger on a gun.
I am also going to let you know that having a female officer present has been proven, in numerous studies, to lessen the chance of officers engaging in physical altercations.

So yes, I think they should allow for female police officers. I think that if women more equally represented in the police force you would see a decrease in police shootings, police violence, and police aggression.

If women can handle the job they should not be discriminated against. However I think the selection criteria should be based on the requirements of the job and not lowered so women can get in. My brother in law is a police officer and said when he has to do crowd control or go out on a call it does put him at risk if his partner is not as strong as a guy. However, some women are tall and strong. Like my friend's wife could easily kick the sh*t out of most guys. And if I was fitter and did weights (I'm working on it) then with my height (6ft) and calm nature, I could have been a police officer

The standards are not that hard. Hell, even I could make it as a cop and I'm not exactly physically fit.
You know who has tough physical standards? USMC bootcamp. And lots of girls make it there.
I don't think standards should be dropped for women, but they shouldn't be banned either.

Male police officers also use too much force. I think that maybe they should more properly train female and male officers to stop the many police brutality cases.

I've been in many situations where male officers have gotten far more emotionally involved than I found reasonable. Once, my boyfriend and I were arrested for having marijuana on us at the air port. We ended up driving in the wrong direction up a one way street. Not because we were stoned, but we genuinely took a wrong turn and somehow ended up there.
The male officers told me how I shouldn't be with my boyfriend. How they weren't trying to be my father but to take their advice, etc. The female officer simply came along to search me, and arrested him. She had no emotional involvement what so ever.
