What does a man's music taste tell you about him?

Ladies, do you care what music taste a guy has? If so, what signals do you feel that different music tastes convey? Is music taste a prerequisite to a relationship for you? Do you think that taste in this area is strongly attributed to personality?

Yea I care about music. It's a big part of my life, it would be nice if we could at least agree on what to listen to!

CLASSICAL, OPERA- I can't see someone other than a nerd listening to this

JAZZ- I understand if you appreciate the music but we are not going to be listening to Dizzie Gillespie in the car so I wouldn't really be into that. Mostly old people listen to that

POP- This is kind of a girlie taste..I guess depending on what kind of pop he listens to it wouldn't be so bad, as long as it wasn't his _favorite_ kind of music. I would give him the side eye if he was listening to Britney Spears or Miley Cyrus

COUNTRY/BLUEGRASS- No. Too rednecky for me sorry

ROCK- Okay I wouldn't have a problem with this

RAP/R&B/HIP HOP- If he doesn't listen to this I doubt we'd have much in common. It depends on the type of rap he listens to and who his favorite artists are

I voted E. And I defo care what music taste a guy has. It says a lot about him, of course it shows his personality. I would never date anyone into classical music-i'd assume he was a boring geek (no offence to anyone that likes that crap), I would never date anyone that liked emo music because I'd assume he was suicidal etc etc. I would only ever date someone who liked the same type of music that I liked. Otherwise we'd be way too different and someone like that wouldn't even attract me and it would never work.

Guys who are really into hard rock, heavy metal, or really intense rap with strong language etc., I usually steer clear of. Other than that, I don't really mind what a guy listens to. My boyfriend loves Classical, I think that is so nerdy but I don't really mind. I'm not making out with his music preferences. ;)

If a guy sticks with one genre and is really critical of others, it's a huge turn-off; if he isn't willing to give a different sound a chance, he probably won't be very open-minded about other things outside of music either. As long as a guy is open to trying new things, I don't really care. He doesn't have to like everything, but I can't put up with someone who's a jerk about it.
