I am becoming a firefighter and i need to look good sometimes ;) would you recommend a 5'o clock? I can't do a beard, besides they look ridiculous to me.

Just to be clear: The guy up top does not have a five o'clock. A five o'clock is literally like a shadow, there is no visible whisker growth. That's a legit short beard up top.

And, as someone who has had a beard since 1999, I say grow a beard. :) It's funny to me that they've become "on trend" nowadays. Young girls (teens) compliment me on my beard, and that never used to happen. They dig it now. Also, I was talking with a lady my age, a veterinarian, not long ago, and I told her I was gonna cut my long hair off, and she specifically told me to keep the beard. I appreciated that.

Best thing about a beard, apart from the look, is the time it saves you. Since I grew mine I've probably saved weeks of my life that I otherwise would have spent shaving. Not to mention saving the money.

I've settled on sort of a mid-length beard (like half an inch) and it's cool. If you think you can't grow a beard because you don't have whiskers growing everywhere in the traditional beard-area (?)--like if you have bare skin on either side of your mouth--then do like me and Johnny Depp and Chris Pratt and grow that fucker anyway. Nobody gives a shit. And it still looks cool. I promise you I get more female attention with than I would without. Without my beard I look like on "The Simpsons" when they show Homer Simpson as a baby, man. Forget it.

No, it's not all, man. :) That would be nice! Length probably matters more with beards than with hair. I can't see a lot of chicks going for that long-beard thing that was all the rage there for a while (especially on athletes). Those were a bit extreme. Another reason not to have a very short beard is that it's softer if it's longer, and that's a plus with chicks (of course). So I'd suggest moderate length. It will also make you look older (when you're young), which is a positive a lot of the time. I've said it before on GAG and I mean it: Most girls want a Neanderthal. They want a caveman. Especially if they're really professional, uptight and straight-laced. Whatever they say, they are attracted to a caveman. This is my experience. :)

Depends entirely on the face. It's only going to look good if the rest of his face is attractive. Generally guys do look more attractive with facial hair, but it might not be enough to make someone who is still otherwise less than average looking attractive.
