Ha please, I fell in love with a Japanese girl and had to learn the most difficult language in the world (for English speakers) in order to communicate with her, and it was well worth it, I have no regrets what so ever. If you are questioning whether you should learn a language as easy as Spanish, and are thinking its bad to do what your partner wants then you have some other issues you need to work out.

If you don't want to do it, then don't do it. Nobody can make you do anything, and realistically "I don't want to" IS a good enough reason for why you don't do something, no matter how much they rationalize why what they're asking is beneficial for you.
If you don't want to learn Spanish, then don't learn Spanish.
I don't feel like learning another language is necessarily changing you, but she just wants you to learn because it's what her parents speak, and so-- therefor you can connect more with them. If you really want to, but it'd take a lot of dedication
It seems like she's asking a lot. Being a fellow Puerto Rican who also understands Spanish but can't speak it the best , I'd feel overwhelmed if my partner asked me to do something like that
How is learning more about a language trying to change you? She just wants you to be able to talk to her dad and be okay if by chance you're on your own and someone else can't talk for you.
