I've seen time and time again in carribean where whites from away would come down and get treated like royalty by Indian people. So like I've seen white students from america, UK, and other places come to trinidad as students and you would not believe how friendly and kind Indian people are too them. They quickly become friends and want to hang out with them and get integrated into the group.
Meanwhile people from bahamas, jamacia, barbados and so forth. So a lot of black people when they try to make friends with Indian people at these tertiary universities and outside often tend to be a guarded off friendship. Yeah they'll talk, be tolerant to you but don't expect them to bring u into their social group and be one of the guys like they are with whites. What I meaning is don't expect them to want to hang out or get to know you.
And before we chalk this up to a culture thing it isn't. At the same school a white girl from Jamaica won pageant, has an Indian boyfriend from that school and is welcome with open arms into indian social circles.
Indian people ability to form friendship almost immediately with white people seem to be almost instanteous. Another example: a girl i'm friends with on FB recently went to disney land over the holidays was only there for like 1 week. Meets a white girl and becomes friends with her. She now writing long ass script of her true friend who she's so proud of meeting.
My question to you is indians ability to form almost immediate friendship with white people actual friendship or brought out of the racist caste system and may tied with admiration and them thinking it's an achievement to have a white friend?
Why do Indian people always hit it off with white people?
Fellow Caribbean-born person here... I grew up in Jamaica, born and raised. I think the whole reason behind this is because there is a lot of colourism in the society. Growing up, I usually saw the lighter-skinned/mixed or white kids being treated a bit better than the darker-skinned kids. The social status also plays a part because from my experience, the lighter-skinned people were considered/or is richer. Then people started bleaching their skins to become lighter or 'brown skinned' to feel more attractive. Growing up as a light-skinned black girl, I was usually complemented on my skin colour meanwhile I saw some of my friends and classmates being bullied for being 'dark' sometimes. Also, in Jamaica, you are still treated very well if you are Indian because Indians are generally lighter and 90% of the population of Jamaica is of African decent. This is based on MY experience but it seems really similar. I think colourism has some part to play in it.

Your idea of colorism might be right. I find Indian girls/guys are willing to date a black person if they have some white features in them like colored eyed, curly wavy hair that somewhat straight and brown/light skin.. But It's very rare to see an Indian person want to date a full on black person (both parents are African american).
Hey hey :) I'm Indian. I have Indian friends, white friends, and lots of black friends... we're all not the same, I'm an Indian who becomes friends with anyone who's fun , I don't care much about race or nationality; it's really silly to live life that way. #justsaying

Well people often say a lot of things but there actions in real life say otherwise. I'm not saying your like that though.
Yeah I know what you mean... but really, I was raised with lots of different types of people so I'm good at becoming friends with anyone... also, I'm the kind of person who will be your friend as long as you respect me I will respect you no matter what your race, nationality, sexual orientation etc. :)
*shurgs* I don't know I don't know any of the Indians from India but I was best friends with a Native American Indian and his entire family when I was younger, very friendly people, some of the best folks I know.
As for the Indians you are referring to, I would find it a bit wrong to say that they only make friends quickly with white folks, it's probably that they are just a friendly and open people.
But I'm sure the actual Indians on this site will shed some light into your question.

Well I'm an observer of people behavior. i don't make this claim just out of a few isolated cases but several years observing people behavior in conversation and so forth. One of the general trend I've found is that Indians in the Caribbean idolize white people and want to be friends with them just because they are white. It all tied back to colonial times I think.
While black people because maybe a combination of caste system and media perceived perception of being a criminal often have a hard time being accepted into a social group by Indian people.
A perfect perception of Indian people to blacks in Caribbean. An indian girl leaves her phone in room where everyone is does abs and goes to do seated chest press. She doesn't think much of it. She sees a black guy enter room nothing criminal about him just a normal guy. Within couple seconds goes to get her phone and you can blatantly tell she felt like the guy was going to steal it because he was African American.
Honestly I think most people want to be friends with interesting people. Foreign people are interesting. When you throw in standard probabilities I think you have your answer.

maybe, maybe not. I think what I said could be characterized as a trend but I'm not sure how strong it would be since I don't have any statistics. When dealing with these things you need to account for a multitude of other trends and variables. Your placing a individual anecdotes or points onto a graph and trying to draw trends from it based on what you know.
Since i haven't encountered foreign population, i can't tell but the fact is, younger generation Indians are much more open. For me, it doesn't who the person is, if he/she is fun and friendly then i would have no problem being friends with them.

I don't know if that's true or not. However, I know for sure that these casteism and racism are mainly dominant in older people in India. Young generation is MUCH more open to other cultures and people.
