Question

Walking behind an otherwise fine looking couple doing their shopping when I see the sag. The "hip hop", "gangsta" , prison gay way to get a lay, fashion (?) trend of sagging your pants so your ass hangs out letting the world see your underwear. It's the most pathetic and ignorant style ever. If you dress like this you do not look cool, successful or sexy. WTF? There's a movement called BLM, why not show your lives do matter by having some self respect, respect of your surroundings and respect for your PANTS? I'd really, really really like to know why? Hasn't this pathetic look gone on long enough?
Beside, if it's so gangsta, how are you supposed to effectively run from the cops?

MAMAMIA! I totally agree with you! :) Many men in this generation invented the trend called the... sagging pants trend? It is not proper and they should definetly start pulling up their pants. Anyway, its a trend that shows your underwear, makes it hard to walk and is totally inappropriate. I don't know how this generation got so crazy, but unfortunately showing your underwear is a new trend. Great. Guys, girls don't like that. Also it makes it extremely hard to walk and you wouldn't have any spare hands to do your daily routine because they would be stuck on your pants like glue to pull it up so it doesn't fall. (Not that it helps). Finally it's totally inappropriate and nobody wants to see you like this. I don't get what the point of it is, it's so inconvenient and you will probably get kicked out of every fancy restaurant or whatever. Please guys, this is ridiculous, pull your pants up because nobody wants to see your underwear, you dont want to be holding your pants all the time and you don't want our mama looking at you dressed inappropriately. I'm really glad to see the poll results reflecting what I thought was true. I guess it's a bit to get attention, a bit to fit in with other guys who are doing it and it seems to have a 'you can't tell *me* what to do' flavour to it. One of my younger bro's used to do it in the 90's but back then it was because of a sub-culture fashion left over from the 80's. These days, it's kind of a lazy trend. Buy some expensive underwear and pull down your pants so others can see. Basically, it's a stage. A rather unattractive one. Lol, they're probably better off wearing sandals with socks.

dude. i can't stand when people sag their pants. especially when they are so low that you can mold the shape of their @ss in midair, with your hands. it's just so gross. however, recently i saw one that was worse. this guy came up to the register with nut hugger underwear on, and his pants were sagging so that you could see the shape of his crotch. holy cow. i wanted to throw up.

Sagging pants didn't originate from black folks it originated from prison now whether black or white folks created it in prison is beyond me but that's were it came from.

It means they're ready to literally get fucked in the ass, sagging pants = universal sign of a prison bitch.

For some reason though blacks, among others adopted this and thought it was cool I'm sure if the one who do it bothered to know what it actually means you'd see less of it around. though I do contribute a good portion of it's use to just simply being lazy.

When this became fashion as I entered high school, I heard it was because the whole OG/wannabe criminal thing meant they emulated the fact that prisoners have their belts confiscated and so your pants will hang low.

This hasn't been proven one way or the other, but it's the best explanation we've got.
