What do you think Pinochet was, a Hero, Villain or neither?

Some say he was a hero, others say he was a villain. One of the good things he did was get rid of the communists from Chile in a coup. One of the bad things he did after he overthrew the communists and took power, was establish a dictatorship. Pinochet passed away in 2006 at the age of 91. Keep in mind that a lot of Chileans revere/respect him.

You do realize his 'overthrowing of the communists' was really overthrowing a democratically elected leader who was actually a social democrat was not in the habit of disappearing people or surpressing opposition by disappearing then and the coup ended 40 years of uninterrupted democratic rule right?

He was a vicious despot who used unacceptable means to take and maintain control.
