The Captain of the Titanic ordered Men and Women first. Surprisingly, Feminists of the time believed that ‘women and children first’ infantilised women.

In 2012, the Men on the Costa Concordia saved themselves first. The passengers were of course angry. The Article below has further examples of shipwrecks before the Titanic where Men saved themselves first.

It's obvious where Men rate in society, last and disposable. A book named "The Myth of Male Power" by Dr. Warren Farrell goes into great detail about "Male Disposability." And that is what we're truly talking about!

A similar story was the sinking of the Oceanos in 1991. The officers and crew abandoned ship and left the passengers to die. All the passengers were subsequently rescued, women and children being given priority.

"Women and children first" seems to happen quite naturally. If I was in a disaster situation with my family, my father would evacuate his children, me, first then his wife before him. My brother would make sure his children, his sister's and girlfriend got evacuated before he did.

In a situation where it's complete strangers, everyone fends for themselves I guess. It's easy to say, "children first" when the situation isn't actually happening. Let alone when it isn't your child. I feel as though the people commenting would be acting QUITE differently if this was a REAL life situation.. which has been proven, due to the countless disaster situations in past history.

Children should, ultimately, but as far as the sexes go as adults I don't think this is necessary nor desirable. I respect the lives of everyone, and knowing someone went or was forced to die for me - someone I maybe didn't even know would be a heavy burden. I wouldn't really be able to live with myself. I would never want that.

We live in a world that is always developing safety hazards, so with hope we won't find ourselves in a life or death situation where one persons life has to be sacrificed. It's a tragedy when this happens.

I think for things like who should be given safety first , it should be children, the elderly and disabled or sick. They can't fend for themselves like a healthy adult.

yes, because despite everything equality has given us, we need women and children to bear the progeny and men are unfortunately expendable in that regard. one man can inseminate multiple women, it's not so much the other way around.
