- Our leg muscles definitely get used to it and it becomes 2nd nature
But also:
- It helps our posture - this is important because by crossing our legs we coordinate ourselves and are able to bring our shoulders back and chest out which displays confidence...as opposed to opened legs and slouching in a chair.
- Basically it is society where we learn it from, it's just propper ettiquette
- It is comfortable for us and not just because our leg muscles get used to it but because WE DON"T HAVE A PENIS THERE so have one leg rest on the other comfortably you really need to extend the cross from your thigh to your knee...and guys can't do that.

Ive tried doing that, how guys are "supposed" to sit, it is so uncomfortable for me so I either sit like a girl..or just leave my legs open. I dk, something about the way my knee, it hurts when I do that
Yeah I've tried it too and it does hurt my knee, because there's no support for the knee it just sinks. I reckon as you get older and you're not as flexible it becomes more comfortable because your knee stays up on it's own.
Sometimes when I see girls sit like that, they seem like they think they are better and stuckup but that's just my opinion only when they sit a certain way....... but good answers here well good said :)
Personally, I can't hold my legs together for a long time. I always cross legs instead. It is mostly to be ladylike...however I am not very lady like. In public I'll cross my legs but with friends and family..i just don't care...that might be why most of my pants end up with holes in the crotch >.<
Girls get attention as it is, I know I do, so having my legs spread open and the goods in full view, is a kind of look at me statemeant. Modesty. Id rather come off modest then sleezy and open lol. I sit spread eagle at home, just not in public with all the wandering eyes.
If a girl does it, it inherently implies she's overly... comfortable like that. It mainly just gets everyone going, leading to attention they may not want.
Men sit like it because our balls are out side the body and it's comfy if we spread about or else we'd sit in them and it hurts

While I agree that excessive spreading of the legs for a man, or for anyone actually, is both ridiculous and potentially anoying, there are many reasons for men not to hold their legs together. As I’m not a doctor though, I will only speak of the two most obvious ones. 1 - Those things between our legs. So, the first thing I have to adress is the fact that men are far from having an abysmal void between their legs. To the contrary nature made it so that our reproductive organs are kept outside of the body. That means that when most of men tey to keep their legs closed, there is some crushing action happening, and it is neither comfortable nor is it healthy. Sadly, not knowing how a woman body feels, I am unable to provide satisfactory comparison to express it in a way that you would perfectly understand, but to make it simple, it hurts, and a lot. 2 - Differences in education This one is pretty self-explanatory, but I’ll detail a bit. Most men were never told to keep their legs together, simply because of biology and society. Before the 20th century, almost no man was shamed by society for what’s between his legs (I’m not talking about size here). It’s actually quite the opposite. It’s also a fact that throughout history, it was mostly the women who were considered to be temptations, and their role to make sure they weren’t too tempting for the men. Now, it is mostly untrue today, but some figments of tradition and prejudice remain, mostly but not exclusively in families of lesser education.
Why girls close their knees tight
Because it’s proper etiquette for a woman to do that since they usually have a dress on so it’s probably out of habit too

When they're wearing a skirt or dress, it's for the obvious, however, if they're wearing shorts or pants, it's likely because it's actually the proper way of sitting. It's professional looking
