No one can predict how one particular relationship will work. All we can do is relate the odds of a situation like this working.
So, the odds are not in your favor, but I suspect you already knew that. Long distance relationships are not as likely to make it as those where distance is not an issue. Is he going away to college or does he live near you in the summer due to custody arrangements with his parents? If he is going away to college, well the first several months will tell you if the lure of new friends and experiences will be more interesting to him than your connection. Big life changes are a strain on any relationship, yours will be no different.
So, the fact he can drive and an hour isn't an unbearable drive really is only one small aspect of this. The bigger elements are whether he will find it more desirable to come see you or more exciting to stay where he is during the school year. I know it feels better to believe we have some certainty of an outcome with a relationship, but really no one is sure how things will play out. I never married thinking I would divorce 13 years later. I think you should try to focus more on enjoying each others company and wait to see how things go when the school year starts. Good luck!

An hour isn't that far and he has his license. I don't think it's an excuse for him though if he doesn't care he will get lazy and say it's super far but I don't thin kit is.
I don't think so because the scool year is longer than the summer
maybe, maybe not. depends how the relationship is in the summer really.
i'm always in the same situation. I go to school an hour away, and all of the girls are mostly local, so they all live an hour or more away- so it depends on what type of people you are, and how committed you are. if both of you are totally committed then yeah. it will work. if not it'll likely crash and burn.
It depends on how readily available transportation is to you guys.
