Windows Media Player is just a sh*t media player.
All video files use what are called CODECs. (Compression / Decompression algorithms)
There are dozens of popular codecs used online. The most popular are divx and xvid.
Windows Media Player only understands a fraction of the codecs used online, and neither of the two most popular.
This usually means you have to manually download and install the codecs necessary for Windows Media Player to work.
A video player like VLC (from VideoLAN) understands almost all the codecs on its own, without any action necessary on the Users part.

yeah, you need some codecs. Another one is DivX.com. Just go there and download the media player, but when the window pops up with what you're downloading just uncheck the box with the media player and the box with the converter. Unless you want all that. I prefer Windows media player. Also watch out, they'll try to slip in permission to throw in googlechrome as your default browser. Uncheck that box too. You just want the codecs.

Maybe it is because your media player doesn't support that video format. Use VLC media player and everything will be fine with all movie formats. You can get the latest version for it here -
It will work for you even if you are using Windows 10. It has it's full support. Hope, I helped ;)
Try this out for downloading instead (https://zeus-app. me/tips/tips-zeus-download/save-china-winter-olympics/)Cause you don't have the codec, download the CCC pack for all the codecs you will need its free
VLC, noob... link
Sounds like you need a new codec pack. Try the latest version of K-lite.
