i always went to funerals with my boyfriend to support him. yet when some one my family was close to did suddenly at 15 he would not come to the funeral with me even though she had been living with my family so he knew how much it meant to us his support. she was like a little sister to me yet he would not give me the support I had given him. it hurt. it will hurt your girlfriend perhaps you should explain to her your discomfort and suggest a compromise of spending more time with her for support and asking if you could go to the gathering after the funeral but not the funeral itself.
Man up and go to the funeral. It would be a total dick move for you not to go and support her. It's her DAD, not some long lost relative. This is not the time for her to have to start worrying about your relationship in addition to dealing with her father's death. Suck it up.
Her dad is the one who died and YOU can't deal with it? Suck it up and go anyways. Show support to her she would be so hurt if you didn't go.
If you really like this girl, I think you should go to the funeral. It's a big deal to lose a parent, and she needs you to be strong for her.
No one enjoys funerals. But there are some things you should -- like you said -- suck it up.
Remember to breathe deeply when you're at the funeral. It'll help you stay a bit more relaxed.

personally I would want my boyfriend there, because he would be the only one to a make me smile if possible. ya kno? so even if you hate funerals, I think you should still go.
