Why do some guys lose interest after the first kiss?

Anonymous
I've been seeing this guy (he's a coworker) for around 2 months. Because of the holidays, we spent 3 weeks apart out of those 2 months. So we haven't really done anything either. Just a few dates, a few kisses here and there, and I went to his place once to watch a movie together and we cuddled.

While I'm pretty sure that he's not seeing anyone else, and that his feelings for me are genuine, I feel like I don't feel the spark anymore. Ever since our first kiss, he doesn't initiate contact anymore (although he does reply promptly and thoughtfully when I initiate), and I haven't met any of his friends yet (we do have a fair number of mutual friends though, and I think they know that we're dating).

What really bothered me was this: we both returned from our vacations today, and obviously the work was pretty hectic. It turns out that one of his old friends who he hasn't seen in years was visiting, so he wanted to have lunch with her. Even though I was with him, he never asked me if I wanted to join him. So I went off to have lunch with other people because I didn't want to intrude on the reunion. Then later on, I asked him if he wanted to do our weekly movie outing, then he said that his old friends were in town this weekend so he wasn't sure. While these are legitimate reasons, I was still kind of hurt, since he hasn't seen me in almost a month as well!

He was still affectionate, and I could tell that he was looking for me and stuff, though. In our big meeting with tons of people, he managed to find me and sat beside me, and all day I saw him staring at me etc. I just feel that he's taking me for granted, and not trying anymore.

Should I just cut off contact? I feel like even if we do get into a relationship, he'll just hurt me... We're not even officially dating yet and he's already not even contacting me.
