I'm no psychic, but I do know that having a good group of friends increases the chance that you will meet more people, look less desperate, and even have more confidence.
studies show that people are more bold when they are with a group they trust. maybe this will be the case for you. studies also show that people are generally more comfortable talking to other people when they are in social settings, but that's also common sense lol. so having friends can actually lead you to being invited somewhere where you can meet their friends, some of which will hopefully be female. all of which will be more comfortable talking and meeting you given the social setting.
my main suggestion: make friends, both male and female. do not stay fixated on only approaching girls as this might actually hurt your chances of finding someone who is best for you.
I thought I would meet my future husband at college and I never dated anyone in college I actually hated the guys in college. I guess it depends on the person. The guys where so horrible all they wanted to do was have sex. I never met anyone who was worth dating.

Will college increase your chances of finding a girlfriend? Yes. Is it also possible for you to go the whole four years and not get a girlfriend? Yes. College is a place full of different people and obviously being surrounded by different people increases your chances of meeting someone. That said, the number one thing that will increase your chace of meeting someone and getting a girlfriend is knowing what you want in a girlfriend. You can save yourself a lot of time, energy, and frustration if you go into the dating game not knowing what you want. That said, that's also part of the process.
If you know how to stand out from your competition...then yes. If you act like your competition..you will just blend in with the crowd.

just be social. some college people are very into the hookup scene but I am sure there are college girls who want a more meaningful relationship, I was one of them. don't hang with party crowds.
if you are going to a 4-year college with dorms instead of a community college, much better chance, but overall, it depends on how social you are, obviously we guys have to be more social
