Thanks in advance.
Job promotion that I can't handle, what should I do?
Thanks in advance.
Well with a new job will come new stress. And especially if its brand new. But a promotion is a different level of stress because expectations are already placed on you since you know the job, the duties, standards, procedures, and you have a high responsiblity to accomplish at the job. And especially being a GM for a Car dealership. Employers aren't and cannot expect perfection right off the bat. They understand that people will make mistakes but the glory of it is how you leanr from your mistakes. Your boss will be there to assist you and guide to becoming a successful GM and worker. If he wasnt, then he needs to prioritize a bit and understand work ethics. I would give it some more time and see if you can get mroe comfortable with the newly obtained position. If you still cannot handle it after a couple months, just tell him that you are not ready for this type of promotion yet. He's not going to fire you if you say that you are uncomfortable in the position you arre in especially with all the benefits that you brought to the table and helped a dynamic company grow.
Perhaps you should suggest to your boss that you get an assistant/partner to cope with such a large load? If you emphasize that an extra pair of hands will help the business (by allowing your attention to be focused specifically on problem areas) I imagine they would be willing. Just an idea.
Congrats on the success BTW.
