Why do people like trap music?

front2back
I seriously don't understand how it has become so popular in EDM. The music sounds like pure ear bleeds and isn't "hype" or "dope" at all. Trap is just a boring rip-off of Dubstep and Drum & Bass. Yet, despite 90% of people not liking it, it still has a following. All over vine and YouTube you will find crappy "caked up" remixes of songs.

Now, I don't hate all trap. I have found some songs to sound good, like Bird Machine. However, overall it makes me sick to listen to.

Everyone calls trap "hype", but it really isn't. It's sort of like hard-style with its obnoxious random noises and synth abuse (I will give trap credit though, at least there is a beat to it, unlike hard-style). But all trap does is pick a "level" or two and just stays there the WHOLE song! If it wasn't for the snares, you would think someone just accidentally slipped out only the synths for their music and didn't add anything else. You also can't say that people at raves enjoy the shit out of it to justify how good it is, since people at raves are so drunk and high they'll "rage" to anything.

Is this whole trap obsession going to die, or do you think it's going to stick around? I think that it will always remain in the background, since Dubstep and D&B have already accomplished almost the same sounding music a few years prior. What is your opinion?
