When I lay me down to sleep,
I dream of a life I wish to keep.
But when I wake with the morning light,
it’s taken from me, far out of sight.
The nighttime brings such abundant joys,
but the waking hours, misery employs.
Anguish, sorrow, heartache, and pain,
are never ever my dreams bane,
but rather it’s only enemy,
is the waking world around me.
I wish I may I wish I might,
continue this dream through the morning light.
Let me dream this dream till the end of time.
Let the reality of the dream consume me and make it mine.
