Based on my own experience and answers to recent questions on the site, I would estimate about half the population here in the US don't see sex as some sort of commodity for sale, or recreation.

Many people, and the majority in many of the minority cultures here in the US, are generally celibate until marriage.

Most of us are generally celibate in our early ttenage years, actually.

But our culture, and the messages here as well, are certainly dominated by the precocious and the promiscuous! Many people are openly scornful of those of us who don't look for a 'relationship' every time we meet someone of the opposite sex. Certainly this is true in the media for the most part, especially in Hollywood and Nashville and similar places.

It's definitely not 'cool' to be hesistant about sexual relationships wtihout a long term commitment. And people with that more conservative point of view are often intimidated into silence for fear of being considered 'out of it.'

Yet this state of affairs means that half or more of the US population, and likely a greater part of the population in most other countries, doesn't get to present their point of view in the media in general..or, even more, here on Girls Ask Guys, where the vast majority of the discussion ASSUMES we are all 'swingers' to one degree or another.

I would say 19 of 20 messages concern casual affairs, or the choice of someone to partner with for casual affairs!

I'm not taking any moral position of casual sex, but I AM saying that people with that life style are probably not a majority. At the minimum, there are about the same number of people who totally reject that lifestyle.

But we rarely hear from them in the media in general, or, especially, here on Girls ask Guys.

Yet, I would assume that such people have a lot of questions about sex!!

And, a lot to say, whether we agree or not, about the behavior of a lot of the people here, especially the younger set.

And, no doubt, a lot of advice from a perspective that isn't heard either here or in the mass media very much. AFter all, these people DO have sexual experience..just at a later time than is considered 'cool' in the media oriented culture.!

I wish we could encourage such people to speak out more on the forum. There's no doubt a lot of them are here!
