I get the feeling that none of us are on the same page re rough sex?

I say that I am not into Rough Sex..but what is "rough sex"? I knew a detective at Iowa State University and he mentioned some cases..one of which was a married couple where each been hospitalized on occasion..and he specifically mentioned "broom handles" Please define your version of "rough sex"

You people are really into "rough" more than I believed..i suppose that is simply because I have always done "A" and believe that to be normal but never went further down that path. Choosing BA was very tough because selfishstars brought up "kinky" which is near & dear to my heart and I-hedoniste gave some of the best advice that I believe that a body would ever hear...but in the end...I chose kateakanne...all three deserve a Blue Ribbon...Thanx Everyone for responding! ...(: <3<3<3=D

  • I think most people want 'erotic pain', but not 'hurting pain'.

    If you are doing something like spanking, you can start off gentle and increase a little bit at a time, and that seems to be erotic. I think you can take more 'pain' that way because it becomes erotic.

    Sometimes I fantisize about something that can get rough and then get my girlfriend to do it, but all too often it becomes painful too quickly and it stops being fun and I don't want to do it any more. When that happens it is a little bit disappointing, I'm not sure how to get around that.

    When I do stuff on my own, I have complete control so I can keep the roughness just on the edge between erotic and hurting and that works great. But that works because I'm in control and know what I'm feeling.

  • I would never use a phrase as vague as "rough sex", because I try to avoid exactly the problems you're having. I'm more likely to say:

    I'm into giving and receiving light bondage, preferring rope over restraints. I'm into striking/pinching with the hands, preferring receiving over giving (open hand--no fists). I'm not into receiving whipping or caning, but I would consider learning how to give...and so on.

    Generally, when you negotiate your boundaries, be as specific as you can. That way, no misunderstandings, no surprises.

  • I really enjoy all the things in B, however, to me that seems more like regular passionate sex in my opinion. I love it a bit rough, so in just the normal sex we have light hairpulling and spanking. Since it's almost an every time type of thing, I don't really view that as rough sex, its more like foreplay. So actual rough sex in my opinion is more like C. It's when the nails come out and you actually feel a sting. I don't endorse just pummeling anyone, that's not really erotic; but I have defintely woken up the next day with welts, burns, and bruises that lasted a week. All in good fun though.

    I guess it's just relative.

    I chose C in terms of what I enjoy. I've definitely been so bruised that I haven't been able to sit for a week or so. I'm more of a masochist, but I do get a sadistic streak every now and then. But I draw the line at anything that could because permanent injury.

    What's rough for me is too rough for a lot of people, but relatively tame to others.
