I've been in your situation one too many times, I know how badly the pain feels, how bad your heart feels, your head is swimming with questions that you may or may not want to know the answer to...you've just got to busy yourself. Like the guy said, it takes A LOT of time. But eventually (and I didn't believe this myself at first) it gets better over time. You start to fill the voids in your heart with something else (in my case, it was acting), and you begin to move forward with your life in a positive way.I don't know if you're into reading, but this book Diary by Chuck Palahniuk seriously helped me a lot - it helps to read about other peoples depressions when you're going through your own.Take a new class, meet new people, spend a lot of time surrounding yourself with positive people, take horseback riding lessons, a pottery class, music lessons - anything that will be able to take your mind off of the present - because sitting alone in your room with all those memories is only going to bring you down and hinder your chances on moving forward.Get out there and reinvent yourself in a positive way! If I can do it, so can you! - because believe me, I was extremely depressed and hopeless for quite some time. Now is your time to get to know yourself again. Best wishes! :)
It takes time. A lot of time. People say that you will meet someone else but for me it just wasn't her (the old gf) and it was not fair for me to compare the new one to the old one.Slowly but surely I started letting go, deleting old e mails, txts & finally pictures & cards.I still think of her but not daily or even hourly like I did in the past. Now I think more about the bad things that she said or did.
