No because it's not about seeking forgiveness or bettering one's self. To me knowing what someone is capable of and willing to follow through with is what would drive me away from ever wanting to be with the person again.
Yes and no. What is "the necessary work?" I think it's more of a question of *why* they cheated, and addressing that.
