About three weeks ago I broke up with my boyfriend. The relationship wasn't always great and we were fighting a lot. I reached the point where I could not keep going any longer, so I ended things after almost five years. It was a clean break up, and we left on resonably good terms. But during the past few weeks, I have really missed him. I did a lot of reflecting and realized I might want to give the relationship another try. So I send him a message and told him that. He replied we should give it a couple more months, so to not do something we might regret later but that afterwards he would be open for friendship or more, if we were not dating someone at this point. So my question is: how do I avoid just waiting for the months to pass? I want to move on with my life, especially because it is not certain that we will get back together. How do I do that? This might seem like a silly question but I could really use some input.
