Is a pretend break up a good idea?

You decide to break up with your SO citing some frivolous argument or trait they have they start to panic and like you 100x as much.

It is a poker move you are betting they won't like being broken up with and will break down in desperation to be with you.

It’s no secret love grows stale and expires, people become bored with you and it seems the harder you try to please them the further this turns them off. The only way to keep your lover is to push them away ironically.

This psychological phenomenon can be described as “negatively bias” where people value what they cannot have much more than what they do have.

So pretend break up or no? Cruel tactic or wise?
