I never say 'hey girl'. While I don't think its outright disrespectful per se, I do think the phrase lacks class.
If its family (especially wife), I'll use an endearing term.
If it is someone I know, I use her name.
If it is a stranger, I start with "Pardon me, ma'am..."
I don't know, but if they say that to you say "hay is for horses..."
Ummm because it sounds better than: hey dudette, hey chick, hey woman, hey bitch, etc.
