The risk of time wasted with the wrong person. Now extend that out further to child bearing and you'll understand why they're also more choosy with sex partners. If every time it's a risk of getting pregnant for 9 months, then you'd want to be a bit more selective as well.
They want to know you're the shit before your penis goes in.
There is a biological explanation for all of that. It's mirrored in the amount of gametes we contribute when trying to make a baby: For men, it's millions of sperm a pop, and for women it's (usually) only a single egg a month. Of course women would be more selective.
Maybe it’s like a instinctual thing. she's putting you to the test, and seeing if you are a good match or not. Girls have to be that way or they could easily get hurt by the wrong guy.

because most girls aren't like guys who just go for whoever because they got the genitals and reproductive organs. girls are so selective because we want love, affection, care, loyalty, faithfulness, and a happy long lasting (possibly never ending) relationship, and not just some fling or hookup or one night stand since those are meaningless and pointless
@bekkesmash yes, i just said why girls have high standards to guys. and guys are the same, they want a girl this thin, with this hair colour, sex drive, body frame, personality, interests, etc. girls just want basic love and affection while knowing her guy isn't being disloyal and unfaithful to her. guys want everything from a girl or else it's a deal breaker
@bekkesmash well then guys my age and in my area are total scumbags because they want a girl who's "this thin" (pretty much a sickly thin), downright gorgeous (model attractive pretty much), and they gotta have a certain shade of hair colour and length, a high as eff sex drive, a specific body frame (usually small), and a certain personality. I've yet to meet a guy who's like "meh, as long as she's semi to really attractive and not a bitch, i'll date her"
@bekkesmash mine actually aren't that high like some girl's are because i know if i have high standards and want a guy a certain height, with a certain eye colour and hair style, with certain likes and dislikes, and all that other stuff, im basically building my own boyfriend or waiting for my imaginary/ideal boyfriend to come to life which will never happen. and im only 17, so if in 4 years guys still dont mature and lower their views and standards with girls in my area, that's sad tbh
For me I’m selective because I want someone that would make a good husband. I don’t want to argue all the time, I want someone that will listen, someone who would make a great father, someone who will be with me even if things get hard, someone who can handle his business.
A girl wants to know how invested you really are in her or if you’re just doing it for a good time. If you’re not willing to make sacrifices to show her that you really want to be in a relationship with her, what incentive does she have to date you?
Basically because they can be. Women know that no matter how bitchy they are to a guy, another one will come around soon enough. So they have no incentive to try and make it work with a guy who isn’t exactly what they are looking for.
Because some women like the idea of just settling down to one. They like that they have that one person to hang onto in that moment which is why they get so selective. They choose the best possible man to give them comfort and safety in a world where a loyal guy is practically a dying breed. No offense
Well I've heard that I am really selective, but the truth is that I am attracted only to guys with specific characteristics, and I am talking about both personality and looks. We can't be attracted to everyone can we?
I think the dilemma is with you specifically. Girls aren't in general so choosy, there are some who are damn defined about what they want their parts to be like.
Because they're unsure. Remember, biologically, women are heavily invested in reproduction. So they want to ensure the best possible genes for their offspring, and the most nurturing mate to help raise them.
I have a life. I have things to do. I don't have time to waste of just anyone. So no. Sorry. I'm nkt going to spend my time on someone just because they want me to. It doesn't work that way.

The only reason dating is hard for both genders is because women have unreasonably high standards
No we don't, men have far lower standards. A girl just needs to be half decent looking and not a total bitch and most men will want her.

O I see you are under 18, wait till they are 21, their standards will drop fast, while women will up theirs.
They will, dating is biologically easier for women than it is for men.
@bekkesmash how is dating biologically easier for girls compared to guys?
It's easier as a small percentage of guys can knock up all women. Eggs are more rare than sperm, thus worth more. Women have a higher innate value.
For me I’m selective because I want someone that would make a good husband. I don’t want to argue all the time, I want someone that will listen, someone who would make a great father, someone who will be with me even if things get hard, someone who can handle his business.

People should always be selective.
If not? Then why do we even date? I’d date because I like the person and I have feelings for the person.
I’m selective or else I’m not at all. I don’t belong in the middle when it comes to relationships. For me it’s just two sides.
I just don’t see the point with dating and relationships when you get heart broken and control your significant other and are with them all the time.
If you think women are selective, then your standards are higher than you need.
Lower your standards (your own selectivity) and you'll find all kinds of sluts and whores.
Sperm is cheap, eggs are expensive. They need to be picky.
Aren't you selective too? Will just have any girl? Then okay that's fine for you, doesn't have to be for others
Basically because they can be. Women know that no matter how bitchy they are to a guy, another one will come around soon enough. So they have no incentive to try and make it work with a guy who isn’t exactly what they are looking for.
Selective? Have you seen the amount of single mothers, breakups and drama that goes around in society? you probably live on another planet.
Well, I'm glad at least women are.
If women acted like men, humanity would have bred themselves into sewer-people.

Because there's a lot of boys who just want to fuck around and waste your time.

Because finding a partner in life is a really big deal and impacts the rest of your life? Whats difficult to understand?
