Has the success (or potential) of your partner ever made you insecure about yourself?

I had a girl tell me that I intimidated her because I'm a college grad, I have a good career, a car, etc. and she didn't have any of that. I told her none of that mattered to me, but we stopped talking because my "potential made her insecure." Is this common to think that someone who is interested in you is out of your league and to push them away because of it?

  • it has happened before to lots of people, and myself. however there are people who do not care about that such as my girlfriend, i get near perfect grades, she gets above average but not near what i get. yet she is smart in her own ways and outwits me so she doesn't care about this gap

    • What if it was constantly drawing the attention of other women though?

    • I don't mind as long as he's not flirting with them or being tooooooo friendly. It all depends on how he behaves, not who likes him or who talks to him.

  • No, it will make me feel proud.
