I would say it's a mixture of both, you need to put yourself out there for the chance of both. But I would say mostly look for friendships because sometimes they can lead to a really good relationship.
I suppose they do find me because people approach me and start conversations all the time but I'm not a big fan of people so I don't let them develop into friendships
They have tended to find me, but of course, it still required a choice and action.
How did they happen?
Asker: Just by being places and being around people. In school, in church, at work, etc. Just by being around people you get to know them, you get a sense of who you would like to be friends with, and you also get a sense of who you would like to be more than friends with. And as said, then it takes an action - talking with someone - maybe later asking if they would like to do something or go to dinner, etc. Depending if the person is friendship material or more.
But for the most part, they tend to make the first move in taking initiative?
Asker: I think it's been kind of mutual, being as I get to know someone before dating. I don't date to get to know someone, I date because I like them, and get to know them first.
Are you friendly?
Asker: I used to be very shy. I've gotten away from that, and am considered friendly now.
