I've never used it but I don't see how that incident changes anything. The fact that there are shady people out there, using the anonymity of dating apps to do harm to others has never been a secret.

This could have happened on any app. This could've happened in real life. It's all up to the persons involved.

You can't argue with an idiot, so leave that kidnapping, poor excuse of a human out of the picture. What can be changed is the way that the other person goes about their hook ups.

Don't meet at the other's house right away. Don't jump into bed right away. Meet at a public place. Get to know the other person first.
That kind of defeats the purpose of a ons though, yet you can't simply trust everyone. It's unfortunate really but it's the sad truth.

I can't really be specific to the case you've mentioned, as the article is unavailable in Europe but that's my general opinion.

I never used Tinder, but this is sad and scary news. I was always afraid of that, considering I have a friend who used to use it and she met some really shady guys on there. However, I think this is a risk with pretty much any site/app, unfortunately.

It's not the app. These dangers have always existed for women and especially for those in the LBGTQ community. It's best to just always be prepared for the worst and even if you are doing this on the down low, have a trusted friend or contact who is able to keep tabs and check in with you. Common sense approach that can stop something bad before it goes to worse.

If you follow precautions, you're probably quite safe. Just because you use Tinder, it doesn't mean you have to engage in risky behaviours. People can use it to meet people and have sex with people they know nothing about without getting to know if they like, but that's always more risky.
