This is spot on 👌. That is exactly what i wanted to say, it's even better.
So either they dont want sex or they wanna have sex or they are lying to themselves. What about their goal is to meet new people and they are open to the possibility of a relationship? I mean that seems to be exactly what they typed.
@SoapySandwich Do you think that people always say exactly what they mean?
No, but I dont see why the false dichotomy (or trichotomy if you prefer). Are you suggesting that there are no other possibilities and ruling out what the text means if taken literally?
I agree with Soapy. Why are such things always meant to be deciphered? I mean what I say and say what i mean. I know some people aren't this way and that I asked for other possible meanings but it can't always just be a negative meaning. As so many people think
@SoapySandwich @Simplismilez My first option is essentially a restatement of the words we are considering. But people do not always say what they mean, and they don't always mean what they say. E. g., when someone says, "I think we need to take a break from dating," it usually means that they want to break up without having a breakup talk. If it was an ideal world, we would not need to interpret what others say, but it is not an ideal world. Far from it!
No, your first option rules out the possibility of desiring a serious relationship which the original text doesn't. Sure people dont always say exactly what they mean but quite often they do, or at least try to.In this case I think it's far more likely that people mean they're looking to meet people and will play it by ear from there.
@SoapySandwich "No, your first option rules out the possibility of desiring a serious relationship which the original text doesn't." Based on the literal meaning of the words, you are right. But, again, some people do not mean what they say and some people are not very precise in the way they use the language.
Sure "some people" might fall into your categories, I'm suggesting that you'd probably find many dont. Thus limiting it to 3 possibilities seems kinda strange to me and not listing the literal meaning as a possibility feels like a weird approach to understanding people.
@SoapySandwich I think people automatically assume the worst of others.
That's a pity
@SoapySandwich You don't understand what I'm saying and it's okay that I didn't list limitless possibilities to satisfy you. You could. . . . just post your own answer instead of being endlessly argumentative.
You said it's one of three things, imply there are only 3 possibilities. If you dont literally mean what you are saying then yeah I dont think I know what you mean. If not then where did I go wrong?I dont mind arguing a point. It's one of the best was to expand ones understanding of a topic. If arguements bother you then just dont argue, I can't do it alone. :)
@SoapySandwich I am tired of you being hyperargumentative, okay? YOU ARE CORRECT! I WAS WRONG! Please fucking forgive me and then leave me alone.

I thought that but some people use it as a way to say they won't commit. How I wish everybody just means what they say and say what they mean.
