A Genie appears and offers you a suitcase with 1 million dollars or the one person on the planet meant for you... which do you choose?

- I would pass and not take any because both have more negative sides to it than positive ones. I would tell the genie to knock on the next door.
Let's analyze the 2 scenarios here.
1. The one person on the planet meant for you:
This person may be here today but gone by tomorrow because of illness/disease. What do you get out of that wish? Heartbreak, sorrow and shattered dreams of happiness or perhaps of a family together. Nothing is granted in life, nothing!
2. A suitcase with $1M
Good, the suitcase arrived, you counted and you are good. In the mailbox comes your tax return. Darn, how do I justify this income? Oh yeah, in the remarks box I put "the Blue Genie gave it to me".
Next thing you know you are summoned for an audit by the IRS. You try to convince them that the Blue Genie gave it to you. "I cross my heart, it is true".
Next thing you find yourself in the lunatic asylum and tell your story for the 100th. time. The head psychiatrist calmly tells you "just that this little pill, it will make you feel better".
The best part of your life is spent in this institution attempting to convince the staff that the Blue Genie gave you the money but in the meantime, the IRS confiscated the dough, sent you a fine of 25% of the $1M and you are sentenced to 10 years behind another set of bars...0|40|0Is this still revelant?Yeah get what u told about the money but what u told about the person is not totally right

Why go for the worst scenario why don't go for the best one i mean everybody has to die someday right so why not spend this time with that person happily ☺️
How would you tell it's life if it doesn't...
Its life it's meant to happen but that doesn't mean we stop living it🤣 I have to love your response about having to report it to the IRS! However, I could easily hide that small amount of cash... just by using it on demand... buy money orders to pay your bills, paying cash when eating out and just shopping. We aren't talking about a freaking billion dollars here... that measly one million... could so easily be gone in freaking days. In today's economy the actual value of one million dollars could be seen as pocket change. It just will not last long.
As far as the IRS is concerned, they tend to rely on what you tell them and nothing more... unless you are a suspected criminal and have been directed by the DOJ to look and see what they can use against you... they always can and will find something to charge you with... one way or the other.
I still love your answer though!@Arivor A million miniature green George Washingtons is mucho moolah for a broke student like me. Perhaps, those same green banknotes are peanuts for you but certainly not for a girl that is going to college.
I would not even have the necessary knowledge on how to spend that dough. I have never been the type of person that spends uselessly because I know the value of a cent.
But now that you mention it, I could actually change the worn down tires of my old bike. That makes a whopping $12. What now?
I have enough clothes, I don't need a car although this one is interesting me since a while...
www.topspeed.com/cars/bmw-isetta/ke2050.htmlDon't worry, with your attitude and accomplishments that I have seen you make so far... It won't be long before you see it as mere pocket change. I'm actually very impressed at the vehicle choice you have made. It's much safer than a motorcycle and eve though I have no clue where you reside and go to school at... If it's anything like the narrow Western European streets... It would be perfect for a student.

- Oh no question: the suitcase of money!
That "person meant for me" might leave me, lose interest, or not feel the same way as I do...
Yeah, I would have to consider everything! And considering my past luck with men, the money seems like the best and safest option.4|70|1Is this still revelant?I've had an equally hard time finding a woman who is worth my time, and who is also available. All the good ones are snatched up; and the rest are single for a good reason. We could probably spend a week sharing stories of all the crazy we've encountered. I know I could spend a day listing all the crazy I've met.
Yeah, but 'Person meant for me' implies they would stay with you. This is a hypothetical situation, after all. Anything is possible.
- Show All Show Less
If they're "meant for you" I would assume that implies that they would not leave you.
@ObscuredBeyond You too? Oh gosh, I've had so many bad experiences, I could write a book about my dating past. That's sad yet funny if you think about it. Especially when I see or hear others that find their partners with minimal to no effort at all.
@HawkPerception Possibly, but not necessarily. Perhaps I'm reading too deeply into the question, but being the cynic that I am, you can look at it different ways-
Someone can be "the one person on the planet meant for you..." as in you have a lot in common, you make each other happy, and they like you- but it doesn't mean they love you or want to date you. They could like you in a platonic sense.
I know that's probably what he meant, but I'm also looking at the big picture: even if by some miracle there was someone out there you could just wish for, and they wanted you as well, will they be around forever?
Not to sound greedy, but there's a lot I can do with a million dollars in my lifetime that will leave me with less doubts than a person that may or may not stay in my life or want me the same way I want them.In my opinion, it sounds like you've been hurt one too many times and have trust issues. Money does make life more comfortable no doubt. In the end however, we don't die with it, nor our possessions. What we do die with are memories. Memories of beautiful experiences we shared with loved ones.
"It's better to have love and lost than never to have loved at all."
However it is your opinion and you are free to have it.

- With the million, I can invest and make it five million in three years' time, if I invest wisely. If she is still meant for me, I'll know, because she'll find a way to stay in contact. I can then use some of my returns to, once global politics become a little less crazy, book a flight after securing a visa. I can then visit her, and discuss options. And if she's clearly wrong for me, then I can invest some more, and then go out in pursuit of whoever else I'm supposed to meet. From there, money won't be an issue. Finding the right soul connection will be the issue instead. It'll be glorious, not having to worry about budgeting as much anymore. My mind will be free to think about all the other problems I can be solving. And if I meet her in the end? Then that potentially solves a whole bunch of problems right away.0|00|0Is this still revelant?
- Apparently, you have not seen the episode of the X-Files, where Special Agent (😉😑🥴🙃🐰👇he really is kind of "SPECIAL" isn't he) gets stuck with a ✨ magic Genie, who refuses too grant him his one true wish, too leave him the F--- alone, and drives him too the point of calling her a Sadistic Castrating Bitch in front of his boss and higher ups within the Quantico hierarchy. Or, for that matter, every other senario where those three wishes never seem too turn out the way the recipient wishes them too.
My first wish, in that scenario, is for a grease gun. Second wish, a belt if ammunition too slap home inside that receiver. Third wish, for the magic Genie too hold still while I crank the firing bolt back, let it click home, take aim, and watch the ✨ magic Genie's Head disintegrate before my 👁️'s.0|00|0Is this still revelant?

3574- Where I live a million dollars isn’t enough to buy a brand new family sized house in a good neighbourhood but it’s enough for two old ones0|51|0
- Money, the money all the way.0|00|0
- Hm, see but mythical wish-granters are tricky.
What if the "meant for you" person the genie is talking about is your child, and they just get you a one night stand (or worse)? Now you're a single parent.
And even if the person it is your partner, timing is important. What if the person is "meant for you" in two years, after they have gotten divorced? Now you're a homewrecker.
And, the money could be dirty. How would you explain that, let alone make the deposit or spend any? Now you're a criminal.
What if the 1 million dollars comes from a close relative dying upon achieving financial success, and you inherit it? Now you might be a murderer.
So yeah I would need to ask some questions before making a choice...1|30|0 - Hmmm... I think I'd ask a lot of questions about either and go from there.
Most likely, if the money was tax free, net, etc, I'd probably go with the money. But I'd put it in stocks, retirement, etc, and try to save and work off that. I'd still work, but it'd be nice not having to worry as much.
Now, if my "one" was independently wealthy, loved me, genuinely tried to make it work, was happy with me, and was worth 10 million, and I had the lifestyle with her that was going to work... then obviously, I'd go with the woman meant for me...
Assuming it wasn't a trick of course... like the person for me is not a romantic relationship, or they're horrible people... or they're fated to die two days later... something like that... but, assuming there's no tricks... probably the money, unless it was worth it for me to walk away from the money option.0|00|0 - I'm longing to know who that person is and is a million dollars nice and can make me live comfortably for practically the rest of my life? Yes but money also can't buy happiness and id rather feel like im working for that money and not being on my ass for the rest of my life and even being on unemployment i feel so lazy but with love comes risk but that would be a risk im willing to take and i value love and happiness so id take the person and give this a shot because life is too short and when we die we can't take this money with us so id rather spend my life creating happy, exciting, memorable experiences with someone who loves and cares about me as much as i do for them.1|20|0
- Anonymous1 moThe person because I have anxiety about dying alone since 22. Just want one man to love, give affection listen to help him cherish him make him feel safe and loved have kids... uh lowkey my atheist ass would worship him if he worships me and we make a religion of it 😂 any way my dumbass wants to look at his face when its all wrinkly like mine at 90 and see beauty in lines and just happiness inside at memorise accociated with him. Ideal gag worthy dream I have is dancing with him slowly to music in living room as old 90 year old hags. 😂 I think I've officially become the cringe my younger self would gag at eww like no wonder I hated marriage to then secretly turn to read sappy books just in pure denial that im a soggy wet romantic and so are my parents who are still married and make me cringe at their love everyday. I've got no emotions I swear.1|50|0
- Anonymous1 moI think both choices have the same value.
The relationship with the other might end.
1 million might end as well.
I would choose money cause I can invest and get ROI. Moreover, I can give to charities.
Nowadays It’s close to impossible to find a person to stay with you til death. In our society all the people are superficial assholes ( both women and men).3|40|0 - Give me the money. I don’t believe in the singular “person meant for you” bullshit.4|51|0
- I don't believe in magic but if it were real then definitely money.
It said the person meant for you. But it doesn't mean that person will ideally fit your standards of looks, personality, fighting for me or be faithful/honest.
So definitely a million dollar will be so much worth it. It can buy me a new home in the expensive area, can start my business/career in the desired field and a lifetime happiness.1|40|0 - The million dollars since a million dollars will make me more desirable and I can attract someone that otherwise would be above my league and out of my reach. There is no such thing a the one person meant for me because whoever that supposedly is, there are 10,000 that are, for all practical purposes, identical. That is why most people marry someone that lives within the same city, college, or nearby town if a small town. And, not infrequent they marry someone that lives in the same apartment complex. If they lived a different city or state, they would have married someone else.0|00|0
- Ima take the mil cos I’m not stupid like most people,
Ima above standard intelligence,
No offence to anyone who chose the partner
But, I realise that even the perfect match made in heaven for you isn’t jus going to magically play itself right and have everything turn out peaches n cream... life is a game... and if you don’t play your cards right... you can even mess up a relationship with someone perfectly made for you, causing her to leave...
And that’s probably the case with me... cos I’m very anti social, avoidant, and afraid of rejection... so even if the perfect girl made very similar personality to me... she might get the wrong idea if I don’t talk to her out of fear of rejection... we would probably go both our separate ways and have no idea we were made for each other... so might as well take the mil if she could leave!
I’m not too much of a fan of love anyway n don’t feel like I need a partner, I’m perfectly happy alone, I don’t get lonely0|00|0 - Originally I voted for the person meant for me. But I realized that if I accept that from the Genie, I mean where's the romance? The story of how I meet this person? I would change my vote to accepting the suitcase of 1 million dollars, feel like I would have a bit more of an open space to travel more and invest in more important things. And who knows, maybe with the 1 million dollars I will meet the person I'm meant to be with through traveling? So it would be a win win.1|30|0
- I’ll take the money if the person I meant to be with is in actuality a person i am so very meant to be with regardless then why would I need to speed up the process of meeting them for that I’ll become a millionaire, and when I do clearly eventually meet them we’ll live a wonderful life.0|00|0
- There's a right and wrong answer here...
The right choice is a million because the person "meant for me" will be mine regardless.
Why would you chose something already meant for you when you have the choice of taking all of the above0|00|0 - LOL, I guess that is the only way I'd get @Cynicaldreamer to go on a date with me.
Seriously, though, in over three decades, I have yet to get The One as my girlfriend, so I'd take having her "handed to me on a silver platter".0|10|0I'd find out on the date what the woman looks like anyway, but looks aren't that important to me. She can't be obese, though.
So if she is fat it’s a no go? Good for you for setting standards and boundaries.
- Show All Show Less
Well we want to make sure she has all your requirements so yes that’s important to clarify... so let’s see what she says!!! @Cynicaldreamer
First off, how did I get involved in this question and comment thread?
Well considering I refuse to date, much less reveal what I look like to anyone on here, it seems like a moot point for me to reply to this question-
But I'll be nice since I'm already here, haha. I'm not obese, but I'm not skinny either. There you go. I hope that answers everyone's questions for the evening :)
- Ohhh, intriguing!
The one person on this planet meant for me? That means she's a career woman. I choose her ;)Me and her will be RICHER than 1 fuggin million 😁😁😁 no rugrats to drag us down to bankruptcy. Life's sweet!
There will be so much money, that we can't keep up spending it all 😁😁😁1|10|0 - I would choose 1 million dollars lol, I will show it to the girl who is meant for me so she will think her life is secure as well do win win and moreover Genies have restrictions they can't maje soneibe fall love with us so money is my choice 🤑💸💰💵😂💴0|10|0
- I would take the million. I already have the girl of my dreams and the million would be enough to move over to America with her, get top surgery for myself (which I've always wanted) and settle down with her. It could also go towards artificial insemination so we could have kids, so It'd be perfect.0|00|0
- Person meant for me.
I can find plenty of ways to make millions,
but my soulmate is 1/1,000,000,000.1|40|0 - I'm going for the one babe on this entire planet that's meant for and designed around me. Fuck the money, that woman is going to be worth 1 million times her weight in gold. I would rather be poor then to not have the rich genuine love from a good woman.0|00|0
- Rule #2 almost prevents "The meetup with the one person on the planet meant for you"
I would take the money. Plus Genie always misinterprets these kind of vague wishes.. 😂https://www.youtube.com/embed/OczOUJw1Z7k0|00|0 - Anonymous1 moThere is really no ONE meant for someone. I could get the money and make it grow. It's more realistic than expecting to have a perfect partner since we are human and we are inherently flawed. Every person has the potential to get into several potential relationships with any one. They will either bad, good or very good. It all depends on chemistry. At the end of the day having the paper allow me to get any chick i want.0|10|0
- The romantic person meant for me who is single and ready to give me a chance, of course. The money being offered isn't even a lot.0|00|0
- If the person is cute then i’ll take them. Just cause theyre “meant for you” doesn't mean you’ll be attracted to him. If he's not cute then the money please0|30|0
- As with the rest of the cynics, I'd say the million dollars if I can launder it into GBP without getting in trouble :)
I'd enquire if I could view the person meant for me first before I make the decision then I can try to find them after.0|00|0 - “A million dollars can’t buy me happiness” OHHHH yes it can once I’ve invested it.
That one person who’s meant for me, here today, gone tomorrow. Compatibility is possible with more than just one person.0|10|0 - My cynical side says, 'Take the money!'. Sure if it was the girl of my dreams and checked marked every box I could ever want checked, that would be wonderful. But I am more likely to believe in the genie than believe that person actually exists.0|00|0
- And then you have to live your life knowing that you could have met the absolute perfect person for you, but you chose money? I'm sorry, but I couldn't do it0|20|0
- The 1 million dollars cause I'm already in love and I don't believe in this whole 'one person meant for you' or 'soulmate' bullshit.0|40|0
- Easy, million dollars, I could pay off my sisters and I's student loans and my parents morgage and still have a lot left over to do stuff.0|30|0
- I would choose the girl (duh.). She is worth WAY more than a million dollars to me.1|10|0
Well Genie can't make her fall in love with you so that's a bumper.
Genies got some rules 😅
- The person I am meant for means less horrible dates !1|40|0
- Well the person I have already so imma get the dollars yo1|30|0
- The one person meant for me of course.
With the right woman at my side, I'd be more successful and make millions.0|00|0 - I've already found the person meant for me :) So yeah, thanks for the 1mil!1|10|0
Yeah I will be updating this soon for all you losers who thing your getting paid when you already have someone... NOT GOING TO HAPPEN SON. Ha
That's called breach of contract, coach. Naughty naughty! I'll take McDonald's gift cards if it makes it easier for you.
- Does person meant for us even exist? And I can say same about Jeannie too. 🙂1|10|0
- I would rather die poor and happy then live rich and sad1|10|0
- Because you can have that one person that you have that's meant for you but you won't if you don't have any money they won't stick around but if you have the money first you can spend the rest your life looking for that person with some success0|00|0
- With a million it'll be pretty easy to hire a match maker to find that one person.0|30|0
@Jamie05rhs That's why you do your due diligence as a customer. Matchmakers are a service like any other business - do your research, don't settle on anything less than your expectations, and move on to a new one if they're not getting you the results you want.
- I would take the million dollars, just because you didn't choose to have them through the genie doesn't mean they aren't out there still.0|10|0
- I have already met up with & parted ways with the one meant for me. Please just give me the cash.0|50|0
@douride2
If by parted ways you mean you two went down different roads then you two were not meant to be together.
- I might be able to survive having to work for my money, but not being able to the right person for me is a real fear of mine.1|10|0
- I'm married, and I wouldn't leave her even if I did meet the "one person meant for me".0|00|0
- A Genie granted me and my wonderful boyfriend with more than what money can buy :).1|30|0
- 1 million dollars. Because I know lots of people who I could help with that amount of money , people who are in dire straits financially1|10|0
- Money cause fuck that other person I don’t need them😭😭😭1|30|1
- Genie, I would wanna wish to meet my soulmate & forever :)0|10|0
- Not to quote the grandpa from Charlie and the chocolate factory but there’s plenty of money out there they print more of it everyday but the one person for me I could live a hundred lifetimes and never meet it’s a no brainer0|00|0
- At this point in my life I am perfectly happy being alone. And I could certainly be perfectly much happier with a million gorgeous Georges to spend on good food, travel and booze. I'm sure I could find a nice travel companion no prob.0|10|0
- The money will be devalued to where it won't buy a hamburger.
The partner is eternal. I'll take the woman.. and got her already.
Now, I'd take the million after that so can buy house and car and travel:)1|00|0 - Already have both, genie needs to come up with something better.0|10|0
- Can you take the briefcase then bribe said genie with the 1 million dollars? He might be a dirty genie.0|00|0
- The 1 million dollars , cuz that person that is meant for me would want me after I had a million dollars lol0|00|0
- I'd 1) want to know what currency that money is in, and 2) would like to see the woman that's "meant for me" so I know what she looks like.0|00|0
