Why do guys always fall for... Thirst Trapping?

Urban Dictionary defines a thirst trap as, "A sexy photograph or flirty message posted on social media for the intent of causing others to publicly profess their attraction.”

I believe there is one right now under GAG COMMUNITY (SMH)

Friendly piece of advice. If the person you are trying to talk too needs a credit card number in order for you to go to another site so you can chat privately... it's a scam. Stop doing this. If they can't talk to you on the app or site you are currently on then that is a HUGE RED FLAG.

Superb Opinion

  • Tough. There's a difference across things like insta posts vs stories vs fb vs fb story vs snap story.

I've commented on thirst traps in stories and from the DMs ended up on dates with some of these girls. But for the reg insta model getting comments from guys miles away that would never see them, which I'm sure is what you're predominantly talking about.

Sex drive is strong and a lot of guys don't have the outlet to release a lot of that sexual tension so it comes out like that. Every now and then I will but it's usually because I saw something interesting or funny about it so I commented.

I remember I had an insta model interested based on my comment. She went through my page checking me out a bit then liked the one photo of me and my ex from like 2 years ago lol. Obviously not a win, just a funny story that a girl with over 2 million followers went out of her way to do that with me.

Think I was her type and she was like, "oh, he's one of those guys" and moved it along. I've since purged my page of photos of me with my ex xD.

  • In the words of a stripper " guys live in desperation and die in despair".

I think there are 2 type of guys. The optimist and the realist. The optimist always sees the opportunity with a woman and always makes a move no matter how obvious it is it's a setup like you said.
The realist is like a toddler who touches a hot stove. After making moves and getting burned repeatedly he learns where his wheelhouse is and knows better than to deviate from it. Regardless of how enticing it is.
I'm the latter and whenever an attractive woman so much as talks to me I'm always suspicious. That doesn't mean i can't be temporarily misled. I was talking to an Asian lady the other day. She played the role beautiful woman but she lamented about how fat and ugly she was. Of course she responses from 50 guys telling her how attractive she was. Then the next day she posted a pic of her wearing some sexy lingerie. That should have tipped me off right there. But by rhe 3rd day it'd hit me it didn't add up. So i stopped responding altogether. Obviously it was someone faking. Who knows if it was even a woman.

  • Oh no! Are you back to making passive aggressive posts towards other users? You did this to me a lot back in 2016 and 2017. I'd implore you to take a different approach. I post provocative content and erotic material daily so this could easily apply to me.

Just because a girl is attractive doesn't mean the post is a thirst trap. You seem to be directing this specifically at someone.

So I will politely ask who you are referring to... You can message me if you'd like. I just want to make sure you aren't reverting to how you used to be.

And of course "if" you have something to say you can always say it to my face. 😊

  • Same reason thirsty dudes do..
    Desperation and attention seeking...

    • True but they have to know they got no shot... like NO shot but they still drool in the comment section LOL... I don't know just something I was thinking about today.

    • Yeah but they do it even fake not even real 🤣

    • I've commented to others guys to pick their jaw up off the floor before. I think it's ridiculous.

What Girls & Guys Said

  • Guys are all about visuals what they can see... in that moment the top head stops working and only the bottom head works hahaha

  • The ones who fall for it are usually a combination of desperate, horny, lonely, naive, careless and wreckless

    • Yes i am also same

  • Imagine coming to GaG to talk to women heh
Desperation. It’s pretty easy recognizing the scams. There should be a whole section on here dedicated to just that.

    • That would be useful indeed.

    • No no it wouldn't lol

  • I think it is because I’m straight. Beside, it appeals to the eyes.

  • Most people who fall for these types of scammers are usually horribly naïve and/or inexperienced or they're not thinking with their brains... Although many legit models and other attractive women, sometimes men, use social media to generate interest in their content and bring in more business, however they do leave the direct link to their profiles for anyone interested, and will sometimes have conversations with followers. They usually don't go into the whole dating/romance part. Some just masquerade as characters, similar to role play, for attention because they are either bored or insecure. But as you updated, anything requiring money to communicate is indeed a scam, thought you can usually tell just by their responses in the initial conversation.

  • Trolling
    Mental manipulation
I guess it can go both ways 🤔 just an opinion

  • Your concept of a 'thirst trap' merely highlights
the HYPOCRISY of the prevailing societal mores...
    Guys aren't 'falling for it'
... they're candidly RESPONDING TO IT!

We purport no FALSE illusions... NO vow of 'celibacy'!
Given absolute amnesty even total strangers would have you nearly naked
and fondle you like a kitten at every opportunity!
(They'd have to dust you for fingerprints! )

And, if YOU were honest and comfortable in YOUR sensuality,
YOU'D be salaciously "pur-r-r-ring" and GRINDING the 'electric slide' in their laps!

  • I can usually spot bots a mile away. They get angry when I refuse them.

The last time I met a smarter one, it took only three days for her armor to crack.

She began to sound like Mal from Inception !

  • I think when a guy falls for that it’s usually because he’s looking for sex from the girl who posted it rather than anything serious. Like they look at her as an object rather than at the whole of her if that makes sense.

  • I certainly don't. It's a waste of time. If I want to get my stroke on I visit Pornhub.

  • When the big brain stops working, small brain in their pants takes the command over.

    • Juas.

  • The Sirens and Ulysses
    The Sirens and Ulysses

Easy, just do what they did in Homer's Odyssey, Odysseus was tied up by his crew members so he wouldn't steer the ship into the Sirens who would eat him up anyways. So basically, to translate, self-discipline.

    • So basically, the exact opposite 😹 He knew he'd have no self control so he had his crew tie him up to physically stop him.

    • @DiscomfortZone Okay yeah I guess.

  • I never had a problem on openly expressing my attraction on an attractive feature of someone here at GaG (and when they posted themselves "how do I look" and stuff), but that part about credit cards and scams, I don't know about any of that... lmao, I just post a reply and that's it. And is something I never do on other apps or socials (which I don't even have in the first place).

  • It's a tough place, guys fall for visual attaction, including myself, we fall hard and get into a trance.

Girls are immune and wonder why men are such idiots but lust is powerful

  • Dating use to be easy, and simple. Now with social media and dating apps, men who want to try their odds develop thirst, and that thirst is taken advantage of in everyway. Ironically many men know they risks all kinds of problems being thirsty, but keep on doing it just for a slight hope something might workout. Results are hard and their desperation creates the thirst.

I agree, thirsty men are pathetic. They deserve all the the problems they get over and over. Until these dummies learn red pill, they can keep messing up and being actively dumb.

  • Men will find a way to walk on water if it meant having access to a fantasy so far not even the ocean could reach it. Desperate enough to try just to get that juicy ego trip in the end. Men are... ambitious 😂

    • You know

    • @WowwGirl I do 😽

  • Validation goes both ways, Coach. Women like to be getting likes and compliments, men that tend to do this hope for compliments or a chance to date or score with her.

    Sad, really.

  • From a girls answer to dat I think becz men r visual creatures primarily dats y

  • It's a desperate attempt to express their attraction for these women so they can feel like they've done something for the woman. Maybe what drives them to do this is the possibility of ever getting with her, which is fairly slim 😂

  • I call that attention whoring. It's extremely unattractive.
