I’ve been to L. A., and I was ASTOUNDED at how bad the public transportation system was for such a major city, and one that was built up later than cities on the east coast that they could’ve modeled after, and better. The street grid system was so easy and well-planned out, I was able to find my way from one side to the other at one point with no GPS just from memory of driving by there a couple times and where the sun was at that time of day. Just the volume of cars on the road was the problem. My lady stayed there for a few months with no car, said you could take the bus places, but it’d take hours and there’d be all kinds of connections and having to wait for multiple buses. I think I noticed a subway station somewhere on Hollywood Blvd, and just from playing Grand Theft Auto in “Los Santos”😂, so there’s some sort of train system (don’t know if subways are too dicey in earthquake country)…. but I would think a city like that would have something so much better, especially in a place I think of as having a significant population of people who are concerned with the environment, and particularly with the smog there, that there wouldn’t be a stronger effort for mass transportation, if not just for general convenience. Only been three times for a total of like ten days so maybe I’m missing something, but is there any effort to fix that or conversation about it? LA feels like a place that would want to have a monorail or something, cutting edge shit (I guess I’m showing my age, monorails have been around for decades lmao).
@WhiteSteve We do have a rudimentary subway system of sorts (there is a station at Hollywood Blvd and Highland) but it pretty much goes nowhere and it is very difficult to navigate with stations and changes in weird places, and poor maps. Public buses are filthy, smelly, and unsafe.
No it’s a lot of busses and trains going around to anywhere from anywhere

As a man, 90% of dating is about what you can provide, your status and where you work, 10% is who you are but only on a very superficial level. If you don't have a car you will be considered a loser.

There is no public transit here so a car is pretty much a necessity.
You need a car for a date but i live in more of a rural area so the bus isn't going to work.
Miami Florida is spread out it’s not like New York City you don’t have Metro rail trains on every corner in the suburbs you have to have a car
Over all u need a car for today's society. To work, groceries, doctors... stuff like that. Dates are just a second hand thing.
I am in Los Angeles. It is necessary to have a car in order to LIVE - we have basically no public transportation at all.
Very right

No, I live in London, we have the greatest transport network in Europe

No, not at all. I'm about to move in a few months and it will be more relevant there. It really depends whether you live in the city or not.
it is sometimes better if you live in a big city to take public transportation so you can talk and leave the driving to someone else
Yes you'd need your own car where I live, as public transport is non-existent after 18.00hrs
I would say yes. My college is in the middle of the woods in Maine. About 15 minute drive away from the downtown area
Unless I wanna get murdered, it's absolutely vital...
I think unless you live in a very Urban area like NYC it's pretty much a requirement to own a car period.
Materialism is only important if you're a Hollywood Democrat. Republicans and moderate Democrats don't care for that shit
Depends on where your date lives.
Most definitely...
Yes, I'm out in the country.
I think cab rides are romantic too
