Do you plan financial future or live more for moment? Or maybe you've found balance between both?

At ripe age of 45, I'm becoming more and more concerned about retirement. Thing is, I barely have any savings and I have a lot of debt. In last year, I've been taking more actions around not spending as much and cutting costs. It's often challenging for me having many interests including enjoying eating out and recently getting back into dating. I'm posting this question to see what others do, bring up ideas, and hopefully spread word to those that haven't given much or any thought.
