Are call centers in reality dead-end jobs?

I'm just an average phone translator. It's still a call center with back-to-back call like usual, has no promise of getting promoted, you're reading the same introductory script, it's a routine and you don't develop any other skills apart from answering calls.

No I'm not happy with only answering calls for years and having no real job experiment/skills. I've wasted 4-5 years of college on hotel management. I got a BA degree for nothing.

I feel like what I'm doing shouldn't be a permanent job in the long run. This is what maybe a HS senior or college freshman would job as a start to earn money for the first time.
I don't want to answer phones forever.
