I am among the buke social caste because I train to someday serve and die honorably, but whether or not I make it to the kuge social caste is another situation entirely.

I am a citizen of Japan and unfortunately, my family ancestry was just rice farmers and kimono makers. We were peasants struggling to be middle-class. They didn't become Kimono-making artisans until the 18th century. Mostly we just farmed rice.

I did want to be of samurai shogun ancestry though as boy. :-D Was kinda disappointed by the my family tree.

Gave fuel for me to not be a peasant. My father too. He was in the bombings of WW2 and almost died. He passed on the spirit to seek big things. So I was the first to graduate with honors in my family. I crushed the world in my own way, in my little industry. I am good now. Just need to find something new to do.

Just think of it this way, without what you claim about your family being among the heimin, the country would not have been able to eat for the most part.
