Is it a waste to enroll in non-credit classes?

Depends on what it is. A lot of those types of classes are completely worthless, while some act as valuable refreshers or alternative perspectives that can make other classes easier.

If you're already packing a full schedule, then I wouldn't recommend wasting the time when you'll be plenty enough burned out and starved for time on the others.

I'd consider it a colossal waste of money. Literally everything they teach in those classes can be found for free on the internet. If you want to learn about the subject, you can do so in your free time, without having to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to do so. Stick to the credited courses and get your piece of paper that is required as proof that you're educated, but you don't actually need the college to get an education.

Not a waste at all. I did that. Unfortunately, at my college it turns out you can actually fail a non credit class (I didn’t but I know someone who almost did).

It's fine to enroll if you still got the time to study for your other classes. It's a nice opportunity to learn something you're interested in.

At your age, I think there are less expensive ways to learn the same things. Now, in some states, a person 60 or older can audit (take, but not for credit) classes that still have some openings after the enrollment period ends. I'm planning on doing that if I can.

If you're really interested in the subjects of those courses just take the free online versions from somewhere like Khan Academy so that you aren't wasting money on something that doesn't count towards your degree

I’m doing non-credit classes because I want to be kept busy and it can be interesting, depending on what you choose. Education is not a waste, given that your regular performance is not hurt by it

It depends on what your objectives are. If you seek personal enrichment or just amplification of current skills than its a great idea. If you need credentials for career advancement you will need credit courses.

It would be a waste of your study time and cash, in much the same way as some Colleges/Universities are making CRT courses mandatory even though you are doing 'hard' science and engineering and on a very limited budget.

Enroll if you want to. Learning is never a waste. I know medical doctors who still take undergrad classes in things like religion and geography. Learning is always good.

Huge waste of cash to me. If I'm interested in a subject I don't need school to teach me and take possibly $1000 away from me. Can look up stuff /find other resources myself.

I would say enroll in the non-credit classes just to see what you can gather from them

No because you can learn about a lot of things online. No need to pay for a class to not earn credit.

I feel a couple non-credit class are good for breaking up the stress. they are typically easier and you want to be in that class not need to be
