Do you think it's fair to expect constant overtime from your employees?

Ok so, in england the work ethic for the film industry was it's just another 9-5 job and afterwards you can unwind in the pub or something.

Then came rick baker and he didn't stop at 5pm. He would work through the night and get things done. This fast production technique has since become expected from all employees and those who dont do this dont get hired again.
Do you think it's fair to expect constant overtime from your employees?
