The Intelligence Quotient Test. Reliable, or Just Another Cheap Gimmick?

Yaaten
I have to say, I've never taken I. Q. tests at all seriously. I have taken some tests online just for the fun of it (I usually get a score somewhere between 124 and 144), but to me they just seem like yet another way to put others down whilst feeling smug and superior about oneself (i. e. "Look at me, aren't I smart? I have an I. Q. of 180! Beat that!").
What is discussed when meetings are called at 'Mensa', for example? Do people just stand around with drinks in their hands, and waffle on about how intelligent they think they are? Do they compare IQ scores, and belittle those who are at the bottom in their select little group? Is it like a pissing contest, or a comparison of dick sizes?
