Anyone else think college is a scam?

It depends where you are and what your subject choice is.
If you want to be in business management then a business degree is pretty much essential these days.
Medicine, law, etc need the degree for the training to do the job.
Other subjects work for teaching jobs etc.
If you're wanting to work with your hands then unless you're looking for a fine art qualification a degree might not be the way to go.
One thing about college is that the way courses are structured can help open your mind up to ways of living you might not have considered otherwise. Travel can do that as well.
It’s a credential that employers look for. That presents opportunities to build a bankroll. You can learn much of it on your own by reading the same books for free, but research opportunities and laboratory experience with very expensive equipment is difficult to do on your own for the average person. So depending on your field of study is can be quite valuable. I think dedicating the time to building a good foundation of knowledge in a specific area has value regardless of how you acquire that specialization.
Certain aspects of it.
Certain schools force you to live in campus then force you to have a meal plan and won't refund your left over money and also make you pay $500 for parking per semester.
Dumb shit like that.
Yes and no. College does teach you critical thinking skills, but you can learn that irl for a lot less money. It does give some brand recognition and it’s a fun place to hang out for four years (at least mine was).
Yes I really enjoyed my college years. I got to know a lot of people, some of which I am still in touch with to this day. LOL I remember some young women were there because their parents basically told them to "look for a guy who you think is going to be successful and marry him"... I never knew about that until I was away at the University. It is OK if they were so not being judgmental. I just found it amusing. LOL

What's Your Opinion? Sign Up Now!Depends on the degree, going to be a doctor, obviously not. But if you're going for something and can't guarantee a job after then its a waste. Some degrees got 50k and you make minimum wage, degrees are scams
That’s exactly what I mean. I’m saying that if you are doing a doctor then it obviously isn’t a scam but my sister went to study sociology and she went for 6 years and she works at fedex 💀
It's not a scam, but I think people should consider looking into other opportunities. Like maybe vocational or trade school.
Cause I know some people prefer to get their hands dirty rather than sitting in an office all day.
College shouldn't be everyone's default path.
It's obviously not a "scam" as there is a lot of regulation there.
What you mean to say is "not for everyone". As the purpose of college and university is very different.
I agree. It is way too expensive. Since Corona pandemic the "online" lessons were extremely bad quality.
I’m not personally in school but I have coworkers/friends who are and they all complain how online schooling is taking them longer to graduate. I even know a few people who only went to college because their parents made them feel obligated to
Only reason I still go to online lessons is due to the fact I already are in dept because of the college loans. So it would be waste of money not to go to them.
No. College is worth it. You earn friends, memories, experiences and a lot apart from syllabus.
I don't think collage itself is, but defiantly the text books
Then don't go & wind up like me wishing more then anything I had gone
