How come my old manager did not acknowledge this other pet store was opening?

i used to work at a petstore for a few months i quit because i was not getting enough hours a couple weeks before i quit i saw a job listing on indeed for a job at my same company but for another store a few towns over but are company did not have a store in that area

when i asked my manager if our company was going to build a store in that area she said no why was she not honest
