To those that order food delivery from one of the major apps (Doordash etc) do you tip the delivery drivers?

Apparently it’s not common to tip in the UK. My Ubereats is calibrated from Canada so already it presets 15%. I haven’t ordered out in a while but I do make sure I tip accordingly.

Side note, I do want to point out this man’s frustration on not being tiped. I understand that covid has put a lot of people out of jobs and making it difficult to find new employment. However, relying solely on tips isn’t the way to go. The root cause are these multi million dollar corporations that take a huge chuck.

I have never used these services, but as a guy who has been a pizza delivery driver in the past, tips are the bread and butter of that job. I always tip a driver when they deliver because I know how important that is.

Use cash if you can for a tip. Using a credit card tip takes money from the driver.

Tipping is not expected in Britain the way it is in some other countries. Workers don't officially have to rely on their tips to live and all staff in the UK must be paid at least the National Minimum Wage. Employers are also banned from topping up wages with tips from customers.

I almost never order food delivery, but if I do, I always tip. I spent 5 years delivering pizza as a second job, so I'm well aware how necessary tips are for survival (also waited tables for a couple of years).

I tip after I receive it or I give a cash tip and put it in an envelope on my door. I’ve had my food stolen once and they gave me my money back
