I think teachers unions should be done away and teachers should be graded as well by student parents and their students results! Trust me this would rid us of teachers who are complete failures who are locked into a job they can’t do!
@Vickymoore9 Yes, this can work too. Careful about parents opinions. Ask anyone who regularly deals with teens and kids at a school. The students are good or manageable. The parents are the worst. They have a halo effect when it comes to their kid. They can’t understand their kid did something wrong. Even if the kid admits it, the parents try to convince the kid doesn’t know what’s he’s saying. Overprotective or overbearing parents blow up on teachers. It seems having students rate their professors would be a good idea too.
Teacher unions should stay though.
Your wrong there is prof teachers lack communication skill with parents or children for that matter. So if a teacher isn’t able to communicate with a parent that’s a great indication he needs to go!
Your again absolutely wrong I’m not sure your issues her but you a challenged a bit lol. The worst part of the educational system is hands down teachers unions in America! Teachers unions is the leading cause of why so many countries have surpassed America by leaps and bounds.
@Vickymoore9 Doesn’t teachers unions allow them to negotiate and demand better working conditions? My field isn’t allowed to unionize. So companies take advantage of us. We have limits on being non-exempt from overtime. So the average salaried workers can get 70 hours of work dumped on them a week. They have work 30 extra hours without getting paid for it. And it’s legal. If you stand up to the company. They can say “You can’t get your work done in 40 hours, that’s your fault. Bye, you’re fired.”Isn’t that the purpose of teachers unions? To prevent them from getting taken advantage of. Or is it something different? If it is, please explain. I want to know.
Your wrong teachers have failed miserably over and over America has the fastest declining educational system in the world. The cause is unions and locking in the worst educators in the world unable to fire them. Your wrong your idiotology idea or warped rationalization on a system flunking is obvious to your ignorance on the subject
@Vickymoore9 What the fuck? Get a cohesive argument If you’re going to attack. At least learn how to speak fucking English. I even asked you to explain how it’s different. And you couldn’t do that. All you did is try to attack me. And I was fucking curious lol.I’ll ask again. If it’s different. Can you thoroughly explain why? Please give an explaination this time. Jesus lol.
Ok so the issue isn’t about working conditions or benefits for that matter for me. What my point is many teachers can have bad reputations with dealing with student. There is a thing called tenure I think it like maybe ten years or what ever the time is with the union. This makes teacher almost untouchable that’s why you hear about teachers assaulting students or sexually assaulting a student being put on administrative leave with pay and many times getting off. They can’t even be touched with proven facts their students aren’t learning. They can’t removed teacher who students haven’t passed standardized to assure kids are at or above grade level. There are teachers in public schools who continuously produce under achieving students. There is prof good teachers produce good students no matter where their teaching. This is a subject that plagued our local public schools in my area for years. It wasn’t till my sophomore year so many parents and even the community made it so difficult for those teachers. That’s when they started to transfer out and the school are a little better. I actually enrolled my daughter in the catholic school both my husband and I agreed she wasn’t ever going to the local public school. She been doing AP classes since her freshman year and is an A student.
@Vickymoore9 Okay. I see this. It’s a double edged sword. The teachers unions protect good teachers’ jobs and gives them better working conditions. But in doing so, it makes it hard to get rid of the bad teachers. What are your thoughts on a compromise that gets the best of both? Where we make an effort and have policies in place to get rid of the bad teachers. For the rest of the teachers, we keep their job security and keep pushing for better working conditions.
I’m always going to be against unions and I think opening pay scales based on teacher performance is good idea. But I also think grading and firing poor performance is key to raising the bar. Places like Singapore, Japan and India students out out performing our. They have the best teachers who are getting paid for their achievements. The teachers at my daughters catholic school have very nice cars. Teachers have summers off more time that any profession out their. I’m maxed out at my job three weeks paid vacation so I’m not going to hear the poor me attitude of the failing American public school teachers. We have watched their grades in our school go down since the 60’s! There needs to be a complete over haul starting with riding American public school of unions. Teachers get a yearly livable wage working only 3/4 the hours the rest of us work. Your a damFool paying a loser to continue failing miserably.
Yeah like that’s the worse advice given on here who listen to a coach who never won a game seriously 😳 😂
Or education is over rated !
